We found this place in a rainstorm in Bath, quite late at night and hungry. We chose the fixed price menu, which had a good selection. The chicken terrine was delicious, served with an equally delicious chutney. The mains were ok. For some reason I was expecting more exciting chips than they were (just your average frites). The pave steak... More

Thank you for your kind comments. We are delighted that you have described us as interesting, bohemian and delicious! That means a lot to us as an Independent. It's a shame you did not enjoy your steak as much as your starter. From your description it sounds like you are talking about the Onglet Steak. It does have a rich... More

More gastro, ie more restaurant, than pub. But it still serves +- 14 beers including local craft ales. And some serious cocktails. We came for a drink around 5pm on a Saturday and stayed for an early evening meal, which was delicious, even on the fixed price early menu. Accompanied by an interesting, varied and reasonably priced wine list; served... More

It was really nice place despite downstairs being quite dark (I could really see my food...!!) and the service was quite slow. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday, I don't know. But the food was really really good. I had the chicken breast roast, the seasoning on it was delicious and the cauliflower cheese divine. Go eat there!

We went for a family meal on a Thursday night, we were the only ones in our section and now we know why! Atmosphere was good with light music in the background but the lighting was very dark, we ordered drinks and our food, the waitress was friendly and fairly quick. The starters were brought out, four had the pate... More

As an independent business it is so important for us to react and respond to guest feedback. We have enjoyed a vast number of excellent reviews and have an excellent reputation as a food-pub which we are very proud of, but it's experiences like yours that drive us to always do better and to work hard towards upholding the consistent... My husband and I were in Bath for 2 weeks in the summer of 2016. After studying in Bath back in our early 20s, it was nice to come back and not be on a student's budget! Gascoyne Place was definitely worth every penny. The wine menu was extensive and our server recommended a local wine based on our description... More

Lovely Sunday roast. Venue is nice, but felt that the table was a little cramped and this was surprising as there were many free tables on lower floors etc. The dinner as not as big as expected from looking at menu, but reasonable price. My friend said his roast was a little cold, but mine was ok. Would still recommend.

We visited on a hot Sunday lunchtime, had pre booked our table and were offered several different places that we could sit. We chose the ground floor next to an open window, which cooled us down. We started with two rounds of ciabatta with dips. There were only two dips ( I thought there might have been more), consisting of... More

This was a spur of the moment decision to go into Bath for lunch. Very attentive staff. Orders placed within a short period. We both had the Sunday Lunch and chose the boar belly pork. Ample portions. Very well cooked. Will certainly return soon.
