Excellent food and wine. Service was thoughtful and gracious. Can't wait for my next visit. Consider a prix fixe lunch for value and opportunity to sample the many fine offerings and pairings with well priced wines by the glass.

We visited this restaurant with an open mind and hungry bellies, looking forward to some quality French food. Unfortunately the food was rather over-priced for what it was. The pork in apple and dijon mustard sauce, which sounded absolutely delicious, was so chewy and dry and bland it reminded us of a chopped up school dinner pork chop. Very poor... More

We enjoyed the pre-theatre petits plats (French tapas) last time we came, and decided to visit again. For £12.95 you get two petits plats and a side dish, which is plenty for a light meal. All the food was great, the only improvement would have been a more seasoning in the split pea and bacon puree that accompanied the sea... More

The atmosphere is welcoming, and the owner came to chat which is always a good move. The game plan is to order a variety of small dishes (2/3) per person and share if you like. Generally, the dishes were tasty, although clearly a lot of reheating going on. Much as I love the Chinese or Lebanese style of mixing many... More

We had a delightful evening at Bistro la Barrique. The owner was extremely helpful and passionate about the place. Lovely atmosphere, excellent food (both mains, sides and desserts) and a good selection of wines. Highly suggested, we will go back for sure.

"Honest" summarizes the qualities of this small restaurant. The prices are honest, the portions smallish and the selection of wines - not only French, to the credit of the French owner - wide enough. I wasn't particularly impressed by my sea-bass fillet on lentils and chick peas but I cannot say it was bad either. Some decent Greek olives were... More

Wonderful find. Amazing food...especially the pork and the fillet steak. We loved it so much we're coming again tomorrow night! 10/10, for service and food.

We arrived quite late in the evening, and with a young child, on a quiet weekday evening (only two other couples there). We were made to feel very welcome, even though we probably delayed all the staff getting home. The food was superb and quite inventive. One of the dishes didn't quite work (pastry was soggy), but overall very happy... More

To sum this up properly, I would call this a tapas bistro. It’s kind of a fusion between Mediterranean tapas and the small-plates ethos and a French bistro. In my opinion this place is very underestimated and often quite empty. It has a beautiful garden so on warmer days that’s where most of the patrons will be. The plates are... More

We had a very relaxing lunch . Loved the idea of tapas style , so you could chose more than one dish from excellent menu. Prawn and chorizo dish and vegetable Tagine very good . The unanimous favourite overall was the Almond and Prine tart- wonderful . Wine list was good as well.
