Met a friend here for lunch on a weekday. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The decor here is very calm and relaxing, and on a cold day the open fire in the bar eating area was very cosy. The lunch menu is varied, and the haddock risotto was excellent and the service faultless. Highly recommended.

Let me first of all say I have had decent food here in the past and can understand the good reviews. On this occasion the food portions were so meagre it was a joke. If you know the story of the kings cloths then it fits this meal perfectly there was virtually no food. I wont bore you with the... More

No doubt in my mind that this is the best restaurant in Shrewsbury. The service doesn't always live up to the standard of food - maybe because I can only go during lunchtimes. Starters of mozzarella salad sublime - elevated from ordinary to extraordinary. Ribeye steak - cooked perfectly, cannot express how beautiful the meat was, seemed to be trimmed... More

Booked a table here for a Friday night and had a great evening. Our table wasn't quite read when we arrived so we were directed to the bar where we got two incredible cocktails, they were very different to each other but both very nice. The food was cooked very well and considering it was a Friday night there was... More

We were disappointed at the amount of food on the plate...what I had was lovely but my smoked mackerel starter comprised the smallest piece of fish,( about 1/5th of one fillet !) in addition to a couple of wafer thin slithers of filled radish. My main course was described as pan fried place, which I suppose it was, but it... More

This restaurant represents the high end of the town when it comes to pricing for Sunday lunch, which is fine when the quality of the food and service justifies this. A previous review of this establishment was very complimentary, so I can't be accused of being subjective. My wife and I have visited for Sunday lunch several times in the... More

Booked late and was given a downstairs table near a lovely fire. My wife and I both had delicious meals. The plaice I had was "melt in the mouth" and came with delicious veggies and a potato dish. All were absolutely delicious. Several extras were brought for us to taste which added to the meal's charm and surprise. The atmosphere... More

We visited the Lion & Pheasant for dinner last weekend. We sat downstairs, very lively area made a nice atmosphere. I had confit pork belly starter which was superb. For mains, the stonebass, again cooked to perfection, while my wife had the ribeye steak. We rounded off by sharing the home made ice creams. We could see why this restaurant... More

Stayed 1 night, very welcoming staff, hotel has a lovely layout , feel and decor. Bar area is good and the dinning areas are in-keeping with the cosy atmosphere. The bedrooms are well laid out with all you need, even ear plugs in the bedside draws. We had a room on the front which was nice, clean and well furnished,... More

An evening meal for four in a tasteful upstairs dining room elegantly decorated in white and dove grey with chandeliers and chic mirrors. Light, airy and comfortable with music turned right down yet still atmospheric. Great wine list and innovative dishes. We had confit if pork belly as a starter with squid- and it worked! Hobos ladder beef and superbly... More
