We recently visited while on our family holiday. It was a lunch time and the staff were very polite, food was lovely. My son had the biggest prawn cocktail I've ever seen. It's a beautiful old building with lots of character , I just don't know why it's got an 80's style reception bar inside the door.... Looks very odd... More

Food a little high in price but worth every penny ! Great food, great service ! No wonder the place is always busy compared to the Swan Taphouse which is always empty due to poor food and service

Staff on arrival were ok, not friendly but not rude either. Room was very nice and decorated to a very good standard. Lovely shower too. Now when booking they did not NOT tell me there would be a LIVE BAND playing.......not impressed at all this is NOT a family hotel. Noise, band , screaming, shouting til getting on for 1am.... More

Very friendly atmosphere and staff, the manager was very helpful and curtious indeed, the menu was very varied with plenty of choice, the food I found itself was very good and very appertising. The price was average in my opinion, there are places a lot dearer for less, and less quality. The Malthouse itself is in a nice location and a very pleasant place to visit, give it... We ate here early evening last weekend. The food itself, as on a previous visit, was very good. It isn't a "gastro pub" but it does have a decently varied menu that doesn't try too hard to be everything to everyone. I think in this respect the selection might have been pared down from the first time we ate here... More

Busy slightly eccentric place which served very good food. Wide selection to suit all and reasonable price. Good service and friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The first thing was the odd saucer and hugely thick cups in the tea we ordered. The tea came in the form of a tea bag dropped in a cup. we ordered a steak and mushroom baguette, which was very good and two of us shared a brie and bacon baguette. the quantity was ample for two small appetites, but...
