We’ve eaten here before and we were happy but just having returned from eating there tonight I just want to get some advice to the manager. Our table booked at 5.45 was upstairs , now I know life is different these days but it’s a tad Souless up there , we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink , which arrived promptly and we felt a bit rushed to order food so we did . Food again arrived promptly , but as we were upstairs my husbands pie came with my curry but then there was a bit of a wait for his veg . We ordered more drinks , mine arrived my husbands didn’t . What I’m trying to get across is the service is disjointed, a table next to us felt the same , a soup starter arrived but then they had to wait 5 minutes for a spoon 🙄. Just before we left another table of 5 came upstairs and were offered a specials menu - we weren’t when we ordered so we asked why ? Apparently it’s only available from 6pm , so if we hadn’t been rushed into ordering immediately we would have had more choice . Feeling we’d been poorly treated we paid and left , we didn’t feel like dessert , coffee or more drinks even with 45 minutes left on the time allotted . We are happy to support and spend in local independent places more than chains but on this occasion the Beehive missed out and we feel disappointed.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your most recent visit it with us. I know you commented on life being a little different these days which is why we are using the upstairs room as additional dining to assist in social distancing and ensuring there is plenty of room between tables. I'm sure you can appreciate this is a very difficult and uncertain time for us and other hospitality venues and we are trying to adapt as best we can to keep our customers and staff safe. Should you decide to book again you can request a downstairs table by all means. I'm sorry you felt rushed to order your meals, if you had asked for a little wait time I'm sure we could have accommodated. Regarding the wait on the vegetables for the pie, again I apologise, it is quite a distance from the kitchen to the upstairs and since your review all wait staff have been instructed to carry the pie with the accompaniments at the same time to avoid this happening again. Also regarding the drink that didn't arrive I'm sure that was a misunderstanding at the time of ordering and again can only apologise. The specials on that day weren't available until 6pm as some of the items were still being prepared ready for the evening service, so once again I can only apologise. We are sorry you felt the service was disjointed and appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope this visit doesn't overshadow the times you have been and enjoyed your experience. Many Thanks & Kind Regards

Been here several times including twice in last 2 weeks. Their main menu is rather reduced due to virus situation, but this doesn`t spoil a meal. We have recently had fillet steaks and tiger prawns, both were excellent and good size portions. Personally, I don`t see the point of the large bread baton with the prawns ( maybe some green veg or sweetcorn instead? ) but still a good meal. Service is professional and courteous ( not always the case at other pub/restaurants nearby! ). A good selection of ales and decent wine, again, not always the case in the area. We will continue to return on a regular basis and wish them luck in the current difficult conditions.

Following the closure of pubs & restaurants what a great idea that the beehive are offering takeaway meals .. so even though we were unable to dine in I picked up my delicious beef Sunday lunch .. all packaged up individually (beef, roast potatoes, vegetables, cauliflower cheese, large Yorkshire pudding, gravy ) and when I served it up at home it was delicious .. Mother’s Day saved .. no cooking ! Thank you ! Great selection of deserts too .. definitely worth a visit !

Have eaten at the Beehive several times and always had nice food/good service, but this time the service was poor. We were seated in bar area and received our first drinks and meal promptly. But after that it went down hill. We waited ages for our plates to be cleared and were not asked if we wanted another drink so my husband phoned the number in the table to order drinks and the phone was switched off! We waited for a dessert menu, which we were never offered and after sitting for an hour we decided to get the bill. Had to find someone to ask for the bill. They brought it then didn’t return for payment, so we paid at the bar and left. It was like we were invisible. Maybe it was because they were busy due to the government eat out scheme, but we didn’t go for that, it was a birthday celebration, so very disappointing.

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your visit and we are sincerely sorry that your visit was not up to our usual standard of good service that you have experienced with us on your other visits. By no means am I making excuses for the lack of attention you received but as you pointed out the Government Eat Out to Help Out Scheme has had a huge impact on our usual calm and smooth running of the pub. We were extremely busy and trying to look after a much higher volume of customers, all being much more spread out throughout the building & outside to allow for social distancing. This did indeed put a very large strain on our staffing so again, I can only apologize. There are two phone numbers on the tables for people to text, the first of which is purely for our track and trace system so goes straight to a tablet securely stored in the safe which is switched off but does receive texts sent to it. The second number is for customers to text their drinks orders to, this is behind the bar and permanently turned on as we are using it to receive the texts for drinks orders. I apologize again if this information was mis-leading. We hope that you will return and hopefully our normal level of good service that you have experienced on your other visits will be back up to scratch. We thank you again for your feedback and look forward to seeing you again.

We went as a family of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. The staff had already accommodated us by changing our booking at a late request from ourselves to fit in with our plans. The table was in a good position and spacious enough for us all. The children’s meals were very good, pizza and french fries for one and pasta with garlic bread for another. Generous portions and good quality, both children enjoyed their meal. Adults ordered, Gammon, Cod bake, pie and fillet steak. Again generous portions and well cooked and everyone enjoyed their meal. The children had brownies for dessert and they it was an iced sized portion. All in all a very nice family meal, would recommend to others and will definitely return. Thank you.

Went with my daughter and 3 granddaughters to celebrate my daughters birthday and won’t be going back, firstly we booked the table for 5 people and it was set up for 3, the waitress eventually came to take our drink order and then came back to say they didn’t have any archers or Britvic orange, my daughter then went to the bar to see what they did have and both were on display. We then asked her to take our food order, as all the staff were just standing around chatting, 50 minutes later still no food had come out of the kitchen then some starters came out to a table that had ordered after us. Eventually our food came out, after I asked how much longer it was going to be, we had to get our own cutlery and sauces. The chips were slightly warm and the veg very under cooked and unedible, no check back was done even tho someone was having steak and when I asked for the bill we were not asked if every thing was ok, we weren’t offered more drinks or desserts. Just feel very disappointed with the whole thing. The pub was very quiet so can’t imagine what service is like when it’s busy

Dined here yesterday during the 'eat out to help out' scheme. We are regulars to the beehive so had a really good idea of the level of service and food prior. All I can say is the care and attention of all the staff was exceptional! We booked for 6:30pm so somewhat of a prime hour on a Wednesday. We was promptly seated, got drinks and our order taken within 5 minutes of arrival. The mains came out (chicken skewers, and Greek salad with mature Cheddar as a feta replacement and a side of chips). Both really really delicious. Dessert menu was limited to three so we both chose the fudge cake which was peefect. There was a wee bit of a wait to have our dessert order taken but we could see just how busy it had gotten and we was in no rush and enjoying our drinks. Every single staff member was rushed off there feet, however they went out of their way to help and adhered to social distancing at every step. We felt safe and comfortable at all times. I cannot stress just how high the level of service was especially given how busy it was and on a limited kitchen. Well done the beehive.

We met with friends in the village of Harthill for a lunch. As it was Friday we gave the pub a call asking if we need a reservation and good that we did it as it was full when we arrived. I and my husband decided to order their pasta offer - I have chicken and mushrooms rigatoni with garlic and white wine sauce and garlic bread (£11.95), my husband had arabiatta pasta in tomato, chilli and olive sauce with garlic bread (£11.95). Both our meals were very tasty and came warm which is important with pasta meal. For a drink I had J2O and my husband had bottle of Desperados beer. My husband also ordered lemon tart with ice cream - I tasted it and it was really yummy. We both were very happy with our choice, we paid in total about £32. The staff was very nice, we were quickly served. Table and chairs were clean at our arrival and we saw that the staff cleared/cleaned tables very quickly after the guests left. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that our friends ordered honey roast ham with egg and fries and the ham was more than salty (I had a small bit to taste it) and most of fries were more than well done. When pointed that to the waitress she offered free drinks to both friends and said she will let the chef know. There is big carpark on the site but when we arrived only 2 places were not occupied.

This pub has been our local for over 18months, and we haven’t tired from going to it. The food is always spot on. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are always so friendly, polite, helpful and efficient. One family member is gluten free and has been well catered for, always plenty of choice. We’ve had over 15 visits and have not had one fault to date. Lovely great village pub- love it.

Been here many times and previously thought the Beehive was the best pub/restaurant in the area. This time, however, not so. We were looking forward to having a fillet steak as on previous visits they were excellent. This time, not on the menu ( despite showing on the online version price £24.99 ). So, second choice, the sizzling tiger prawns which also have been excellent on previous visits. Not so this time. Overcooked and like rubber. No point complaining and waiting for more to be prepared as the place was very busy and we didn`t want to be waiting around for another half hour or so. Another factor spoiling this long-awaited return was the fact that we were seated in the bar on a high table that had chairs which were too low making eating uncomfortable. This furniture might be ok for drinkers but totally unsuitable for diners! If we think about returning we will be sure to ask first about whether the food matches the menu, is cooked properly and if suitable seating will be provided.

I am a regular customer at The Beehive, and as I live locally I really feel like I have a real asset on my doorstep. I know that the management and team have gone out of their way to make The Beehive a safe and enjoyable experience for all its visitors. Reading the 1* review below it isn’t clear whether the basis for the gentleman’s complaint was a) that he was exempt from wearing a mask on medical grounds or b) he was expecting some sort of special treatment or relaxation of the laws, just for him. For the purpose of this post, I’ll assume the latter. By his own admission he was walking around the pub without a mask. So far as I am concerned, rules are rules whether we agree with them or not, and when I visit The Beehive I abide by them, as do 99% of its other customers. It isn’t a big ask to wear a mask for a few minutes when walking around, just like the staff do for their entire shift. As for the older member of staff, I suspect they are a bit like a fine wine - their ability to spot a lame excuse only improves with age. So, if you’d like to enjoy a meal and a drink in safe surroundings then The Beehive will provide you with the perfect environment. If you’re looking for an establishment that doesn’t care about you or the rules, then it probably isn’t for you.

Brought the wrong Sunday lunch after ordering lamb. I told the waitress it was pork, she took it away and swiftly brought it back insisting it was lamb much too my embarrassment. I tasted it again and my mum did too and it was definitely pork (which really I could just tell by looking) I again sent it back. No apology just brought a replacement which then had the wrong side order on. Nobody attended the table asking if everyone’s meals were ok. Slightly disappointing experience after hearing such good reviews.

Having passed the Beehive many times we've promised ourselves a night in there, this coupled with positive recommendations from friends we just had to go. The place is stylish and spotlessly clean, the staff all warm and friendly. We were seated in a little 'cubicle ' table 18. We skipped starters and went straight for mains, there were three of us who had King Prawn Linguine, King Prawn Salad and Lasagne. The King Prawns were large and plentiful. All prepared perfectly, served promptly and generous portions, all three of us complemented our own choices, the Linguine being "one if the best I've ever had". I had a side of fries with my Lasagne which left no room for a desert, in fact only one of us managed a desert, the one who intentionally had the salad to 'leave room',the choice of Profiteroles again were enjoyed thoroughly. The old adage of judging a place by the state of the toilets would give the Beehive a solid 10 out if 10 so another box ticked. The prices were sbout average but the healthy portion size made it real value for money. All three of us promised to return sooner rather than later, booking online is easy and in my opinion recommended.

Came in for lunch today nearly £30 for 2 cokes and 2 steak sandwiches and it was badly presented served absolutely swimming in what I think was butter or oil? The bread was soggy and the steak wasn't sliced but left in chunks so couldnt be eaten as a sandwich. The whole thing just looked very very unappetising. Used to be served with the lovely homemade chunky chips now look like frozen french fries. Not sure what's happened been twice before and was fantastic service food and presentation. The service was sketchy today too- didnt ask how our food was, bar man was abrupt when i went to pay the bill didnt seem like he knew what he was doing. Won't return now -it's pitched as an up market pub with prices to match and the food wasn't worth what we paid today.

I visited here for the first time as I was attending a wake, which was being held in the room upstairs. Service was efficient and the venue itself is very pleasant. After a couple of drinks (the Thatchers Haze was delicious) orders were placed for food and I was torn between the hand battered cod and the homemade steak pie. Having had fish and chips a few days earlier (although who can't have enough, right?) I opted for the pie. When I saw the cod being brought out before my pie I had serious food envy and thought I had made the wrong choice. However, when presented with the pie, with veg, big chunky chips and a luscious gravy, I changed my mind. The pie contained melt in the mouth beef surrounded by a buttery pastry that was extremely moreish and all thoughts of the cod were gone from my mind. The portion was very generous and even a bottle of Hendo's presented. Of course, I cannot comment on how the food is downstairs in the regular bar but I can't see any reason way it shouldn't be just as nice. Unfortunately this pub isn't too close to where I live but I will be happy go to out of my way and look forward to visiting again.
