Group of 4 friends arrived for birthday lunch recently. No stars for uncomfortable seating in conservatory. Waited 20 mins for menu and prosecco to arrive despite having previously ordered. Nil points. Restaurant knew it was birthday celebration but no recognition of the occasion. Meal satisfactory but cannot compare to Waterside Inn.

We were given a voucher for a 7 course taster menu. When we phoned to book we were made to feel very welcome. During the meal all the staff were attentive (but not over the top!) and very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious - cannot fault it at all. Next time we will treat ourselves to the 10 course... More

We wanted a very special Valentines Day this year so went for he 7 course taster lunch; every course a delight. Well balanced and executed, with good flow through the menu and great service. The first dish; tempura oysters with wasabi mayonnaise was outstanding, as was the beef filet with marrow. a wonderful and memorable experience.

We attended the restaurant for my father in laws 60th birthday and had the champagne private dining room, not only a wonderful dining experience food wise but the ambiance was beautiful. We were made to feel very special and the service was impeccable - would recommend Lortolan for any experience, we will be looking to book another lunch or dinner... More

A wonderful evening. The excellent service started a month before with help with the planning, flowers, place names and a personalised menu. Our one veggie (in a party of nine) was well catered for. Food with great amuse-bouche, pre-deserts, chocolates etc was outstanding and with careful choice of wines (from a generally pricey wine menu) left me as host feeling... More

The whole experience is brilliant. On our first visit we had to leave early due to illness and they let us keep the voucher so we could return. We went back last week and it was worth the wait. The wine pairings were really good, it matched the food so well.

Was really looking forward to this restaurant based on the reviews. We booked the Chef's table experience. I have to say that I was impressed with the quality of the cooking - ingredients, aroma, flavours, presentation all excellent. Not so excellent was the fact that our experience was very stressful. During the service staff had some problems with computer system... More

Cooking many fine meals for many people can be a stressful experience, and just very occasionally staff let off steam especially when the computers go wrong. The chefs table is meant to immerse the customers into the kitchen and witnessing such occasional steam comes with the ticket. More

A superb dinner at L'Ortolan with three girl friends. A wonderful presentation of the food with superb textures and flavours for every course. We chose the 5 course Menu and we weren't disappointed, the amuse bouches were delicious. The service was pleasant and relaxed. I have been to L'Ortolan on 6 occasions now and it hasn't been a disappointment at... More

Amazing food and great wine selection. Atmosphere a bit too formal. Terribly uncomfortable seating in conservatory. Shame. The lunch and menu was delicious. I had request a special vegetarian option and the chef produced a beautiful selection of tasty little dishes to accompany The Prof who had the tasting menu. Great for a special occasion. Staff and sommelier professional, informative... More

This was our first visit to the restaurant and the experience surpassed all my high expectations from the courtesy on making the booking, the warm welcome upon arrival, and the friendly but discreet professionalism of the staff. The food? Well that was divine, from the first to the last morsel. Will I return? Sure thing. Thank you to team L'Ortolan... More
