The food wasn't bad and the service was also as expected. Had a starter, soup and main course. The pork wasn't very spicy (despite being two chillies) and was a bit tough. The soup was okay but have definitely had better. The prawns had a lot of batter and were also okay. All in all the food was just okay,... More

After having been to Thailand, we can confirm that Chiang Mai Kitchen is one of the best Thai restaurants we've found elsewhere in the world. Every time we travel to Oxford we eat at Chiang Mai and our last trip, we ate there twice-- Yum! This time I particularly enjoyed the Makua Yad Sai, Thai style stuffed Aubergines with Minced... Tucked away in a quiet passageway, this is a little gem of a place to eat. It was good value, too at around £30 a head, including wine and pudding.

We have been frequent dinners at the Chang Mai for over 20 years. We always have a fantastic dinner and the atmosphere is fantastic. The service is second to none and you always receive such a friendly welcome. Margaret is a wonderful manager and has now become a friend! The food is really fantastic and we highly recommend every dish,... More

Visited with friends, hadn't pre booked, early Saturday evening. Excellent choice and food was great. Soft drinks are expensive (waters free!!). Friendly staff. Appear to cater for children as there was a family with 2 small children sat near us who seemed very happy! Would definitely visit again!

We had been highly recommended this restaurant but wondered if it would be a mistake to go so early in the evening. We were delighted to find the place buzzing and the atmosphere in this quirky old Oxford building gave a sense of occasion. However, although the food was all tasty and served by very friendly staff we felt it... More

The Chiang Mai kitchen id tucked away down a narrow late mediaeval passage just off Oxford's Hight Street. The building which houses it is Kemp Hall which gave its name to the passage. The decor is a strange mix of original late mediaeval features with a few bits of oriental kitsch thrown in for good measure. We had booked a... More

Well booked couple days in advance, got in straight away this time, no waiting on the steps, food was out rapid, even though it was pretty busy. Food was as usual excellent, starters, mains and desert all went down a treat.
