Went last night for a family meal, ten of us in total. Food was perfect, service was great, not everyone eats fish but the non fish eaters enjoyed their meals as much as the fish eaters. Can't rate this place highly enough, perfect place for a family treat. Staff attentive, without being pestered , great place, great staff.

Made a couple of mistakes here - first by not realising that the space towards the rear of the restaurant is very good and sitting at the front with traffic noise. We ordered drinks - very good pitnot grigio went down well with the poached haddock and roasted seabass - the poached haddock was excellent as was the seabass although... More

The ambience was medico and waitresses were inattentive. Took a while to bring bill which, in turn, missed our train.

Monday afternoon, ate in the front bar and had a really nice meal, despite there being no mussels, scallops and when ordered no fish of the day. Hot weather and after a busy weekend with expected deliveries on the Tuesday. I question what they served on the Monday night? What we did have made up for this disappointment and the... More

Hi OXON111, Its great to hear that despite not everything was available on the menu you still had a Wonderful lunch. To make sure that we are always serving the freshest of ingredients, we do sometimes run out things on the menu but we always order plenty of mussels to be delivered on a Tuesday morning so we look forward... you would think getting all the parts of a full English ready and hot at the same time would be doable for a restaurant. Loch Fyne is the first place I have tried in Oxford to do it. Coupled with the quality of the food and the variety of alternatives to the full English makes it unbeatable (so far!)

Hi corrie_clan, Thank you for your great comments about our breakfast - especially on the 1st day of our new breakfast menu! I remember your great feedback from Saturday morning and have already passed your comments onto our chef but thank you for taking the time to put your experience on trip advisor. It is a telling indictment of the Oxford food scene that such a poor excuse for a restaurant can continue to survive. Rubbery squid; burnt, flaccid, battered fish; langoustine with less flesh than a flea (all lukewarm at best) and cold chips were all served by pleasant staff who continually apologised for the kitchen shortcomings. This is a disgrace to... More

This place deserves a much better rating on TripAdvisor! Excellent food and really friendly staff makes this place one of my favorites in Oxford. Good assortment of drinks and some really nice speciality dishes. I particularly liked the mussels. Fair prices and a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I will be back.

Really nice staff and friendly without being "in your face", Good service, good food, especially the chilli prawns as a starter, that's a must. Special fish of the day was lemon sole, cooked any way one wanted it, pan fried, grilled or steamed. Pan fried was very good. The question always remains, would we go back, yes we would.
