Dropped in for brunch and enjoyed a solid English breakfast and eggs Benedict. The service was solid, the food plenty good (fried eggs a bit overcooked for dipping soldiers). It’s a place with a good, studenty vibe. It’s quite loud, which adds to the atmosphere...but not a place to get work done and some may not like the noise. Overall a solid place to get some good nosh, and a nice location as well!More

Decent enough cafe in the centre of Oxford, and fairly spacious, but for us rather too many pies and too little choice, but that may have been a moment un time and I would go again.

I have been wanting to try the new Turl Street Kitchen pie menu for a little while now, and it seemed like an ideal opportunity to support a local Oxford business. I was seated immediately by the friendly staff and chose my lunch options from...the excellent menu of pies, potatoes, and veg. I went for the lamb, chickpea and chorizo pie, potato salad and mushy peas, plus an extra side of red cabbage, because peas and cabbage are two of my favourite veg and I can't choose between them. The food arrived really quickly and it was delicious. The chorizo went very well with the lamb, the red cabbage was spiced nicely, and the minted mushy peas were some of the best I've had. The staff were great and the atmosphere was chilled. It was just right for a hearty lunch and I would definitely recommend going.More

I came here yesterday with 3 friends for lunch. We were given a lovely little table and the waiting staff were most attentive. The biggest problem was choosing what to eat from the menu! Everything was so tempting. The pies were delicious with really great...pastry. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.More

As recommended, really enjoyed the different pies on offer - Moroccan Tomato especially good. Do also try the deep fried jalepeno slices - fab.

The coffees and surroundings are nice but the staff aren't that pleasant. They also try to squish as many people into the tables as possible and it's like if you're not eating you're not welcome.

I ordered smoked salmon and poached egg on toast for brunch (28/02/20), and coffee for £15.70. For the price I expected a delicious and fulfilling brunch. Instead, I received one small slice of bread, which arrived so late I’d already finished my coffee. On top...of that, the service staff where nonchalant and not apologetic. Unfortunately, I left more hungry than when I came in, and cheated out of almost £16!More

Tried to book as advised by email but got no response. Not a problem as a table was available at 1.30 for lunch as two people in front of us changed their minds and left. We almost did the same when we discovered that the...only thing on the lunch menu was pies! Odd to make such a radical change but not to make this clear on your website - where menu tab doesn’t work. Was this a sudden decision? If you are going all out with a single item menu then, for goodness sake, make sure that your pies are good! Chicken & wild mushroom pie looked nice but burnished pastry crust didn’t deliver and was not at all crisp. Filling was light on chicken and on any real flavour. They do offer veggie, vegan and GF pies but not sure I would bother! Staff were friendly but oddly unengaged - had to go and find someone to get the bill and then go and find someone to take the money. Host was too busy chatting to redirect me to the till point. Good location away from the crowds. Hope their breakfast offering is better. Very disappointing indeed - average to poor.More

Popped in for a quick lunch. Quaint feel to the place but table top was so old and wonky. Bar staff of which there were three barely acknowledged my presence when I stood at the bar waiting to order - no other customers in sight....Veggie tagine was barely warm, the poached eggs on avocado were cold. Dining area was cold. We went elsewhere for coffee and dessert. Won’t be coming back.More

Found this restaurant purely by chance, it has a basic rustic charm and serves interesting homemade food. The staff all appeared extremely pleasant and helpful. I had the impression this restaurant is an informal meeting place and was continually busy. Well worth a visit
