The general tone of the reviews gets this place right -- very nice atmosphere and really good locally sourced and varied menu. My only grumble would be the slightly tepid service. Don't get me wrong -- it wasn't a big deal and wasn't bad by any means -- but a few more smiles and a bit more of a welcome... More

Lived in Oxford for 50 years, 3rd time unlucky trying to eat at the Turl Kitchen ; it's not the dentist, they could offer you a drink on the hottest day of the year. Maybe wait an hour for 2 seats? Too much to ask? Apparently so, Sent away as miscreants, is this a test of pre-paredness? what if you... More

I brought my mum here for lunch. The food here was really good. The menu was not overly extensive, but had enough to choose from. Also, this is definitely not pub food, but instead it's delicious homemade fresh food (i.e. not everything is deep fried and comes with chips). We had a slow-cooked pork dish with chickpeas, fennel and broth,... More

Good central location, interesting wooden decor, solid breakfast which was well cooked. Everything was made with care except the overcooked dry bacon which cost the star. Cool art around on the walls.

Came for a meal when visiting Oxford. Had a lovely high quality meal with fresh ingredients locally sourced. The vegetarian options were particularly interesting and better than the usual choices. The restaurant has a friendly unpretentious atmosphere and the staff were chatty and friendly. Oxford is full of chain restaurants but this is well worth a visit for an authentic... More

Great food and venue for reading, writing and any sort of study related activity. My colleague and I were in town for the day, had a lovely lunch and found the quiet upstairs room ideal for us to summarise work, do a bit and admin, etc. It is very, very hard in Oxford to find a venue with cellphone/4G reception... I really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food at Turl Street. The service was unrushed but attentive and the space is very relaxing. The menu changes daily with seasonal ingredients. They had a couple of vegetarian option which I enjoyed. I learned afterwards that they are associated with the Oxford Hub charity, which encourages student volunteering. All in all... More
