We were booked for a visit to the Ashmolean and wanted a quick, healthy low-carb lunch. A search for a whole food, organic deli cafe brought this one up the waiter was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. The menu was along the lines of what we...were looking for. I chose the ‘vitality’ dish with roast vegetables. The vitality salad had falafels, hummus, rice and quinoa, avocado, grated carrot and fresh spinach. It filled me up. The avocado was perfectly ripe and the nounous tastey. However the roasted veg were surprisingly tasteless (a lot of yellow squash and some peppers). Not quite sure why. The coarsely grated carrot was undressed, as was the spinach. The salad did come with some oil and balsamic.vinegar but the whole thing was somehow lacking. The falafels were tasty but cold. I think the entire dish would have been lifted if the falafels had been heated. But quite a nice little place, with great staff.More

Wow oh wow, the pancakes were so fluffy and tasty! Best pancakes ive ever had. My only complaint would be there wasnt enough maple syrup, I had to ask for more. Aside from that the food and drinks were delish. Would definately return!

this place had been popping up on my radar for the longest time and i FINALLY visited and babe, let me tell you, it. was. grand! a very modest, organic cafe. not a huge space or an overly adventurous menu, but does what it says...on the tin and does it well. just be aware of the price and peak times/lack of spaceMore

Popped in for breakfast and opted for the vegetarian which was pretty tasty. Clean relaxed dining area upstairs and a good playlist to boot.

We discovered the Deli Cafe 5 years ago when we visited Oxford together for the first time. We have just been back in town for a few days with our baby daughter, so were keen to get ourselves back for some of their whole-foods goodness!...There are tonnes of great places to eat in Oxford, but this is a really special little place which suits our eating preferences and the staff are extremely accommodating, professional and friendly. They kindly stashed our pushchair downstairs and we carried the baby upstairs, where they have a comfy, clean high hair with a tray- which is important for us, as we do baby-led weaning. There are no baby changing facilities but I’m not sure they would be able to install them due to the beautiful old building being a bit higgledy-piggledy in shape and structure, but guys, if you can, that would be good! We managed just fine with our portable changing mat on the floor of the bathroom, anyway. We returned several times during our stay, so between us, we enjoyed the Avo Special, Avo Awesome, omelette, tofu scramble, chickpea curry and the (sweet potato soup) and (falafel) sandwich combo. We also took some cake home for dessert and would particularly recommend the (DF and GF) Venetian carrot cake and the (vegan) coconut cake, both of which are truly delicious! A real treat. I’m not vegan but am allergic to dairy so it’s a JOY to eat somewhere where I feel really safe. They’re scrupulous about allergies and dietary preference; this is really a place which is all about vegan and vegetarian options, with a few polite offerings for the meat eaters, in our opinion. We enjoy the food because it’s simple, healthy and extremely fresh. It’s very similar to the types of food we like to cook and eat at home; clean, nourishing and satisfying, with a bit of yummy cake here and there to keep life’s balance just perfect!More

After reading the rave reviews on Tripadvisor we were surprised to find we were the only customers for breakfast at about 10am on a Sunday morning. Most of the tables are upstairs, in a cold room overlooking a derelict plot of land. The 'full English'...breakfast was pretty poor to be honest and, at £9.45, not good value. One rasher of bacon (tasted OK), one small grainy sausage (not suitable as a breakfast sausage), two fried eggs (tasted OK), some odd tasting mushrooms (which had also been left uneaten by some earlier customers I noted), half a grilled tomato, some baked beans, and two crust-ends of sourdough for which the knives weren't sharp enough to tackle. All very humdrum and totally underwhelming. Strangely, on ordering our food we were asked twice if we'd like butter with our toast: we said 'yes'. Bizarrely, we were provided with small dishes of margarine, which tasted really naff. Real butter is a great product and adds so much flavour - so why not use it? Is it because margarine is cheap? And why ask if we want 'butter', but then serve margarine? None of the staff asked how the food was either during or after the meal, and I couldn't be bothered to complain when we went to pay. We simply won't ever return. PS - maybe the mushrooms had been cooked in the cheap margarine - hence the unpleasant flavour??More

We called in to this café because the Ashmolean Museum doesn't open until 10am and we had arrived early. It is hidden away down a passageway quite close to the museum. The service was very pleasant and friendly, we enjoyed two flat whites which cost...£2.90 each.More

Came here for breakfast with my veggie mate and we both had a great breakfast. Nice organic Earl Grey tea, with mushrooms on sourdough toast with crispy bacon - for me. Same but with eggs for him. Lovely chatty service and a tempting range of...organic deli food to buy also. Highly recommend.More
