We come here in the Aug 2016 and have just returned. The atmosphere and food is wonderful. It was an added bonus the there were Christmas Markets in and around the area, with Brass Band playing in the Pub - so Christmas'ey it was fabulous. The food once again was perfect, the service was awesome and they have polite courteous... More

The Chequers is a really lovely pub where locals, tourists and cyclists all find a place to sit down, have some very good food (I had the spring lamb which was wonderful) and enjoy their wide selection of ales. It's easy to find a place to sit and the staff behind the bar were very kind; they filled up our... More

Lovely place very old and has heaps of character. Good beer and this is a dog friendly. The food looks great when served, although not eaten the food. It has a restaurant at the rear, so don't be put off when you go in for food.

Went in for family lunch, from the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely and good choice. Good atmosphere with friendly locals too. Noticed awards at end for outstanding staff and would agree. Definitely worth a visit and would highly recommend to others.

I popped in for lunch last Thursday and had Ham, Egg and Chips - a simple meal but the tastes were wonderful. Best chips ever. The ham comes from a local butcher and is roasted in cloves. There was so much I had enough to take him for a sandwich. Coupled with friendly staff and atmosphere its a winner for... More

A lovely locals dog friendly pub serving a good selection of real ales. Everyone was really friendly and we would certainly visit again next time we are in the area. The menu looked great too.

Cosy and quaint little pub, dog friendly and they made a fuss of our dog too. The food was well priced and delicious. All four of us enjoyed it. I had the liver and bacon which came with a lovely creamy mash. It was devine.

We had Sunday lunch here and it was surprisingly quiet, which made me a bit wary at first as usually places are booked up for Sunday lunch, but the food was great- even roast beef, which I'm not usually big a fan of, was delicious. The best bit by far though was the desserts. Can especially recommend the Malteser Sundae... More
