We had been driving home from the coast in heavy traffic on a hot day and needed a break. We came across The Carpenter's Arms after a prominent hotel (you know who you are!) in Burford, where we initially stopped, was closed for food on a busy July afternoon. Not our loss as it turned out! The Carpenter's Arms is... More

Pre booked our lunch for our group of 20. We selected from a range of food and sent details in advance. Communications in advance were good. Food service on the day was efficient, friendly and good. All the group enjoyed their meals. Nice conservatory area and garden area set up for us. Good range of food prices as well.

We had a very friendly welcome on entering this pub from both staff and fellow customers. Dogs were welcomed and it seemed to be well patronised by regulars which is always a good sign. The fishcakes and burger were had were excellent value and well cooked. My wife had a pistachio cheesecake which was amazing. Thank you to Francesca who... More

We dined here two nights in a row as it was close to our accommodation and really fabulous. Loved the atmosphere and friendly banter with the locals. For shy travellers, it was very enjoyable. Food and drinks were really good and reasonably priced.

We booked up for Sunday lunch at The Carpenters Arms because we couldn't get into one of our favourite places. So wasn't sure what to expect-we were not disappointed! The food was fantastic, generous portions and a friendly service. The pub is also very nice inside. We also thought it was excellent value. The food is cooked fresh and not... More

A day out in the Cotswolds and we wanted a nice friendly pub serving unpretentious tasty meals and this is exactly what we got. Owners/staff were very pleasant and took time to have a conversation. Food was very good I had burger and chips, it tasted of good quality meat and not a profusion of herbs and spices. My husband... More

This gem of a pub is tucked away a little outside Burford. We were cycling and Burford was so busy we crossed the river and saw a sandwich board advertising the pub. We had a very warm welcome and enjoyed a good lunch and a pint of Hookey draught beer. The pub has a large car park and a good... More

We dropped in for an evening meal, having passed by it earlier and noticed that it was dog friendly. There were three dogs there when we ate, all very happy together. It was fish night and the fish and chips were smashing. It was also happy hour so drinks were cheap. All in all great value and busy with locals... More
