We were cruising from Cheltenham, intensively googling for places that served Afternoon Tea. Huffkins came up and seemed like the place to be... it was ! The place, the staff, the grand stack of sandwiches, scones and cakes were all excellent. We tried a variety of different teas, coffees, and had 3 towers of eatables for only 6 people. It... More

It's been a number of years since we've been to Huffkins, but it's still a very good restaurant, with a varied menu, which has been tastefully brought up to date and still provides a cosy comfortable setting. We had a great light lunch with truly excellent service. Would definitely visit again.

Dear Tony, Thank you for your kind review. As a traditional; tearoom living in the modern world, it is sometimes difficult to manage to strike a balance between the two, and i glad to hear that it seems we have. I hope you continue to visit us, and that you continue to enjoy Huffkins Kind regards Kirsten More

When out and about in the Cotswolds ( don't you know ) lol, what better place to chow down for a light bite. Service with a smile, polite friendly staff make you feel welcome. This is a classy professional outfit who knows their stuff when it comes to service, presentation, style and professionalism. To my knowledge, they have one in... More

My husband and I had our lunch here when passing through Burford a couple of years ago and we enjoyed our lunch at Huffkins so much that when we were in the area again we decided to return, a little apprehensive that it may not be as good this time - but it was even better! I cannot speak highly... More

Very slow service, very tourist trap prices, did not think this was a relaxing place on any account, noisy and tables to close together for comfort

Dear Lin, I regret that fact that you did not enjoy your visit here. Service does occasionally get slowed up during busy periods as all of our food is made fresh to order. We also use only locally sourced produce, which is reflected in the prices, and unfortunately, as we are a very busy and popular tearoom, it does sometimes... More

Saw the cafe and was looking forward breakfast. Waitress got order wrong but we just let it go (typical British lol) and I was just told no when I asked for a brown roll, however i did ask for bread instead and got this but as it was thin the sausages made the bread go a bit soggy. Disappointed with... More

I have loved Huffkins since my boarding school days in Burford 27+ years ago! Lovely place to have breakfast, lunch or a fabulously tasty afternoon tea and get 10% off your bill from goodies in the bakery next door. Definitely recommend but can be busy especially lunchtime and early afternoon particularly at high season.

Visited with family a couple of weeks ago. Menu very large which is always a turn off as usually means alot of dishes have either been preprepared or will be microwaved. We had a burger, ok, shared ploughman type platter, greasy sausage rolls and very average and a jacket porato which was fine. While I definitely wouldn't rush back for... More

Dear BerkshireWanderer, while we thank you for your kind comments regarding Stevie - yes he is indeed a little gem - I would just like to address a few of the issues you have mentioned. The reason for our large menu is that we have a craft bakery that bakes fresh produce for us daily, 7 days a week, thus... More

Description
Huffkins is a bit unusual. We are an independent family business with our own craft bakery and a heritage that stretches back to 1890. Established in Burford, at the heart of the Cotswolds, by Mr Titcombe our breads and cakes were originally delivered by donkey and cart. Given the impracticalities of donkeys we have modernised some things over the years - but we still bake everything by hand. Our bakers work through the night to create everything from the bread for our sandwiches to the fresh cream cakes in our shops. We believe very firmly in sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible. Now whilst there is clearly not an abundance of tuna fish in the local rivers there are surprisingly few things that do not grow in the Cotswolds. And when we do grow something it tends to be good. Very good in fact. Our chefs take a keen interest in every ingredient that enters our kitchens from field to plate. So when, for instance, you ask for a sausage bap at Huffkins you can expect Cotswold pork sausages made by WJ Castles of Burford to our own traditional recipe in a handmade bap from our bakery made with FWP Matthew's flour from Shipton under Wychwood, served with Huffkins spicy tomato ketchup made at our own kitchen in Stow-on-the-Wold. We believe in real Cotswold food. Even our teas, which we buy directly from the finest small producers around the world are blended with local ingredients including Cotswold fruits and lavender from Snowshill near Broadway. The only thing we cannot get to grow locally is good staff - so regrettably you are stuck with whatever we could find. Many have been with us an awfully long time. Too long perhaps. Yet all jokes apart many of the team hold awards for 3, 5, 10 and even 15 years of service. Just look out for coloured lapel pins if you fancy spotting the old-timers.
