We visited this restaurant to celebrate my Daughter's graduation and were not disappointed. The ambiance was relaxed and both the food and service were excellent. We all started with the duck croquettes which were superb - although there were other tempting starters on the menu. For the mains we ordered sea bass, lamb and several of the steak options which... We went there for a graduation celebration. A very enjoyable meal. There were very few people there at the start (warmest day of the year) so the atmosphere was a little dull at the start. The food was really great and the service was very good.

This intimate restaurant is a favourite for a romantic dinner for two. The food changes so frequently that there is always fresh flavours to explore made with local ingredients. Just be warned you may spend more than you bargain for!

The venue itself has a unique style (in a good way) and up on the first floor. Loved all the food - presentation and taste were both excellent. Service was quite slow (75 mins until starters arrived) and none of the staff noticed I was the only person not to get a dessert. This was quickly sorted out though to... More

Not sure on the Boots heritage as I Guess Robin Hood also lived here. However the food is superb and the steaks are great with some cuts not normally served and great local sourcing. The setting deserves good guest wanting to relax and enjoy Lace Market at its best. Been 3 times so this is not first impressions

A group of 7 work colleagues made up our party. On a rainy evening in May we booked a table on my recommendation. Having been before with a larger party of work colleagues I knew the place and the menu. Delighted that organic beer is available I arrived before my colleagues to enjoy a tipple. As my colleagues arrived at... More

A quiet meal out on a Tuesday evening but the restaurant wasn't deserted by any means. The Larder on Goosegate, is located upstairs in what was Jesse Boot's first shop, not that makes any difference or that you could tell, but an interesting back story. The service was good and the food choice adequate. The quality of food was excellent... More

Came for lunch with my dad on our way to the Lake District. We had ham hock terrine followed by the seabass and the chicken with sides of honey roasted carrots and almond spiced cauliflower. The portions were good, the food was unpretentious yet perfectly cooked and the service was excellent. Would recommend.

Visited with some family and my wife for a quite early dinner (around 7:30 if I remember correctly). Almost nothing negative spoken between the four of us in regards to food (my wife's vegetarian option was a bit bland to what we're used to but still well made). Service was steady and the staff seem capable. My father orders steak... More

The last time I reviewed the larder, I said it was not ideal for couples due to the proximity of other tables. This time I specifically requested a window table for two and we had plenty of space so we're able to enjoy our meal freely. We ordered the rib eye to share with dauphinois potato, chips, their special carrots... More
