This was the third time I’ve visited in the last 6 months and as usual Calcutta Club did not disappoint! The food here is incredible; it’s tasty, generous and authentic. It is always busy inside and I know why! I have had the Saunf Gosht twice now and I still can’t stop thinking about it, it’s a really rich lamb dish finished with fennel. All of the flavours are perfectly balanced in every dish I have tried here and there are loads of gluten free options. I really recommend trying the specials when you visit they’re always outstanding. Back in October they had charcoal chicken as a special to start and it was stupidly good, I hope they put it on the menu full time. The staff are amazing; so friendly and always helpful when it comes to choosing and recommending dishes. I went for my birthday meal and they spoiled me. You may find this pricey compared to your local curry house however, it is miles better and absolutely worth every penny (go before 6:30 and get 20% too!). My family and I will surely return many times!

My friend and I regularly visit Indian restaurants during the year but haven’t been here for some time.
Wow! We’ve been missing out. Starting when we entered we were made to feel so welcome. The staff were engaging and fun to meet.
We both started with Tandoori Lamb Cutlets, OMG fantastic flavours and exactly the right level of heat and spice.
For mains we had the Nagpuri Goat and Rogan Josh accompanied with Pillau Rice and Laccha Paratha. Both absolutely delicious.
It is a rare thing for me to give 5 in these reviews but it would have been an insult if I’d given anything less.
Overall one of the best Indian experiences we’ve had. We will definitely be returning.

Booked this restaurant as I have heard it's a good place to eat. Well... I'm not sure where to start!
I specifically asked for a quiet part of the restaurant as I am hard of hearing. When we arrived we were a little early. No issues, the meet and greet a perfect gentleman showed us to our table. For two, in the quiet part of the restaurant. Considering it is Christmas and the restaurant was full and buzzing, it was a perfect place for us as it was a meal for my wife's birthday. We have had many curries in our time. This absolutely 💯 is our #1, we were in Amsterdam last year and an Indian restaurant there. We rated #1 now #2. If you like traditional service, good tasting curry you HAVE TO EAT HERE. We had king prawn Puri and Lamb chops to start, and it was delicious the prawns were divine. 2 mains naan and of course chips 🤦🏽‍♂️bottle of wine £86 worth EVERY penny. Another good thing here they DO NOT add a service charge, which in this day an age is a blessing, I chose to tip 15£ as it was an impeccable experience.

I've visited a few times before, and having tried many award winning indian restaurants around the UK, I struggle to find one better. We came twice in 3 days this trip, and my better half said it the best she ever had. Lamb starter sharer was out this world for lamb quality and the flavours and highly recommend. I then had the Lamb Nigari my go-to here, and she had the Chicken Korai, which we agreed was the best ever, and the quality of the meat here is unmatched. The service is impeccable, and the owner even comes around and gets stuck in which you don't always see.
We drove from Devon where we live, and thankfully, I have two more visits booked in 2024, so see you soon.

The restaurant laid on a great Valentines evening - the menu was excellent as was the service and attention to detail. It was also nice to have live music! All the staff were very attentive and helpful, particularly in advising on dishes for the pre-order and the food certainly lived up to expectations - really delicious! It was a lovely evening and we’ll be back for another meal very soon …. Thank you!

Lovely meal, very tasty food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was quick and efficient. Atmosphere was relaxed and tables and chairs comfortable. Lovely to have white linen tablecloth and napkins !! Only downside was that everyone in the party had to have a starter and a main course to get 20% discount on the early bird offer.

Calcutta Club is the best Indian restaurant that I have been to in a long time.
The food is incredible and the choice is amazing. The food was fresh and seasoned to perfection; they stretched far beyond what you normally expect from traditional classic curry.
The menu was also really well thought out and there are a number of dishes which I have not seen at other Indian restaurants.
One of the highlights for me are the staff, they are attentive without being overbearing and they were properly on the ball. They understood the menu well and clearly seemed to enjoy their work!
Without a shadow of a doubt I will be back again!

A real treat right in the centre of Nottingham.
The food, service and ambience was really conducive to enjoying a fabulous evening.
The quality of the food was outstanding and eclipsed some top award winning South Asian restaurants in and around London.
I’m not surprised that the owner and his team have won numerous awards themselves.
We can’t praise them enough, the owner is charming, passionate about his food and very relatable.
Make sure to stop here if you are in Nottingham overnight.

A birthday celebration for a party of ten of us on Wednesday 22nd February 2023. We wanted something special and were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and made us so very welcome. The choice and quality of the menu was a cut above a `normal` Indian Restaurant, The delicate flavours and quality of the food throughout all the menu choices together with all aspects of the dining experience was a delight.
The restaurant sets a standard of cuisine that you need to experience. The slightly higher price premium that you pay is worth every penny. ` You get what you pay for ` springs to mind.
All in the party were talking about when we can revisit ; which is a testament to a wonderful evening .

We found this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere to eat after a show. Most places had closed or closed their kitchen but this restaurant was still busy and the kitchen was open until 11pm. We had the most beautiful Indian meal with the most attentive service. We were originally sat towards the back of the restaurant (such comfy chairs!) but when a table became free upstairs where everyone else was, we were offered the choice to move, which we took. Seats not as comfy but lovely to be in amongst the atmosphere of a busy restaurant! We had the two chef specials, a lamb curry and a prawn curry, with dhal, rice and naan breads. They were all pretty special! Next time we’ll come to Nottingham purely to go to The Calcutta Club and spend the evening sampling a wider range of the menu! As well as the the food, the staff were also fabulous!

I have dined here several times, I have even driven from Derby for a take away to take back to Derby I rate their food that much. Whether i have lamb / prawn starters everytime its spot on. Mains wise I started by having Chicken Tikka masala, which was beautiful, I have now transitioned to their Garlic chilli chicken, the flavours are amazing. Price wise, yes you pay a little more but for me the price is worth it, a couple of times I have taken up their offer of midweek dining before x time and receive 20% off aswell as for their take outs. I follow them on social media and their videos leave me wanting to come back very soon! Thankyou Calcutta

Great to visit a family owned independent business where you can tell the staff all really just care about the quality of food and service and genuinely want you to have a great meal.
Visited a couple of times in the past as part of a larger work group, small group of friends and last night for the first time in a while as a couple and didn't disappoint.
The staff are highly attentive (last night we were served by Naz who was brilliant) and the food has been excellent quality every time across a variety of dishes. As well as a small selection of more english-Indian type options, the menu offers some brilliant authentic dishes, (the seafood dishes are definitely highly recommended) as well as chefs specials. The food is really well cooked and presented and the meat is very tender, the sauces are really tasty with great balance of spice and flavour.
Overall really impressed and definitely the best Indian we've found in Nottingham. The atmosphere is perfect for groups and couples. We'll definitely be back. Thank you đź‘Ť

10 family members for my daughters 18th birthday meal, great place , staff, food was amazing all fresh one of the best citrus we have ever tasted , staff accommodating us from the word go.
Let me drop off birthday cake and balloons to decorate table prior to us coming , staff bought birthday cake out after our mains at our request.
Cannot recommend this place enough and will be back thanks for a great night

This restaurant is an oasis in the heart of Nottingham. As soon as I walked through the door at roughly 10pm (close to their closing time) I was greeted by all of the jovial staff in this busy restaurant. The vibe is tranquil & fun. Any of my requests were warmly welcomed & the food was exactly what I hoped for. I had the Nahiri curry with Pilau rice which was simply outstanding. Also the poppadoms had generous servings of some of the best accompanying sauce’s I’ve ever had. I love to eat delicious food like this comprised of fantastically healthy ingredients. I would happily eat here daily. Just go!

One of the best if not THE best in the UK, I love this place. Always busy even on Monday nights says a lot. Warm, friendly owners, comfortable decor and the food is to die for. What a chef they have and I tried the Lamb Ghost special dish with fennel, fenugreek and mustard and wow it blew me away and I hope it makes it on to the main menu in the future! What a setup and applause to the owners for maintaining high standards. That lamb platter was also mouth watering with the finest lamb in any restaurant I've visited. A gem!
