The food and service at this restaurant were second to none and I could not recommend it more. It felt authentic from the moment I entered, through to every dish they served. Well done.

We've been impressed with the cuisine, the friendliness, atmosphere and location of this wonderful little bistro for nearly a decade. It is terrific and we would give it a top ten rating for all of the hundreds of restaurants and pubs serving food in the...More

This was my first visit. The tables are on the ground floor making it easy for the disabled. A real plus point. I chose a three course from the pre-theatre menu, starting with Calamari, followed by chicken in a herb sauce (the sauce was divine!)....More

We eat here on a regular basis and decided to bring a friend from Sweden for lunch. We had the three course set menu. If there is better value locally for less than £14 We would love to hear about it. The usual high quality,...More

My wife and I were taken here for our birthdays by our son (though we have been many times before - makes a change not paying!). The food remains excellent. I had some succulent mussels in a creamy sauce as a starter, followed by cassoulet,...More

We booked a table for two in celebration of my birthday. They had confirmed our reservation yet on arrival didn't have our details. We felt very unwelcome and in retrospect should have left at that point. We were sat on a very wonky table in...More

Everyone who visits French Living is VERY welcome. Bookings made on-line come through to us by email and I suspect Stephane (my forgetful husband) omitted to transfer your booking into the main reservations book. I apologise to you on his behalf. It is interesting how...More

An authentic french restaurant in the middle of Nottingham. French Living was a happy discovery for an early evening dinner. The option of a la carte or set meal and a great measure of "ambiance" made this a pleasant way to enjoy dinner. As with...More

I'd love to rave about French Living but sadly my experience was somewhat lacking. Very slow service, average starters and mains, a dessert which bore no comparison to the description on the menu and a waitress who clearly wasn't familiar with a bottle opener (after...More

The review that follows this one describes a very different picture of French Living, particularly concerning service. There is an explanation for this. The day you visited, Saturday 7th June, was an unusual, unexpected service. On the whole, the number of reservations for an evening...More

This is my second French Restaurant and dining. Honestly, I'm not expecting much as my first French tasting with fish main course wasn't my type of food. Therefore, for the sake of celebrating my friend I picked up the mussel dish of entree as the...More

I am delighted the birthday celebration was a success. However, your review has left me a little bewildered - are we getting a rating of three because you should have chosen creme brulee instead of the chocolate? Why not pay us another visit - opt...More

A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
