Thank you for your wonderful review. It’s a great feeling when everything comes together perfectly and an amazing dining experience is created for everyone. We are deceptively bigger than we look from the outside because the original restaurant space downstairs in the Toulousain cellar can...More

Went here last night and possibly had the worst dining experience. We waited over an hour for our mains and when they came the fish was massively overcooked and the chips were soggy (smallest portion @ £2.95!!). The owner wasn't apologetic in the slightest. If...More

I am deeply sorry you did not enjoy your meal with us at the weekend. Longer waits can sometimes happen for freshly cooked food, but an hour does sound excessive. We were one chef down which could explain the reason for the longer wait. Our...More

We have been wanting to visit French Living for a while and were impressed with the French style setting inside and outside, the workers actual speak French indicating an authentic French cuisine and etiquette. We went for lunch but personally I wish I went at...More

Thank you for taking the time to write and for sharing your experience. As you rightly say, we are authentic, and do everything the French way. My husband (who is Corsican) and I created French Living 23 years ago and it continues to be family-run...More

Great atmosphere - simply and politely run - for a second you feel like you are in Calvi, which takes some doing in Nottingham.More

Haha, love it that you felt the unique holiday vibe of Corsica. There must have been some Corsican "polyphonie" music playing when you visited. Or maybe Stephane was enthusing again about his home island and organising another holiday for one of our diners! Thank you...More

Faultless on every count. Perfectly understated - the food speaks for itself with great service and wine. Looking forward to the next visit already.

Had another fantastic lunch here. This little piece of France never fails to deliver on everything. I always have a galette as they are scrumptious and was delighted to see ile flottante on the specials board and was able to pre order it in case...More

Thank you for your detailed account of your lunch. And we too are so, so happy to have the scaffolding down... you can now watch the Nottingham world drift down King Street or (as I like to do) escape downstairs into our Toulousain basement and...More

It's true we are perfectly located for the theatre, and Warhorse was a fantastic show. So pleased our pre-theatre service contributed to its success. Just a thought- our early evening pre-theatre menu can still be enjoyed even if there's no longer Warhorse or any other...More

It really is like a traditional French provincial bistro - it's not 'haute cuisine' and doesn't pretend to be. Despite being full on a weekday lunch time, service was rapid and friendly. The lunch menu is one of Nottingham's lunchtime bargains.

Thank you for your kind words. True, not "haute cuisine", more like "good cuisine". Home-made, seasonal classic French dishes, all made by our French chefs on the premises. What's there not to like??

Visited prior to attending the Theatre Royal. Best omelette I have ever tasted. Great service. Not expensive. Can highly recommend.

A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
