Not sure how long French Living has been in Nottingham, wish we had found it sooner. On entering the restaurant our first thoughts were 'typically French', wooden floors, paper tablecloths, deli full of French cheeses & foods. We were greeted by a young French man, very pleasant who showed us to the table of our choice. We opted for the... More

Encouraged by good reviews we tried French Living for a Pre Theatre meal. Service was satisfactory and the menu provided sufficient choice but delivery was a disappointment. Salad provided the majority of the starters to the extent that the main choice was swamped. Portion sizes were a little bit mean as well, that may be an aberration because other meals... More

Take it from a Frenchman trained by a Michelin starred chef in Toulouse and currently in charge of one of Yorkshire' best Hospitality and Catering College: French Living is the real deal. One of the rare French restaurants in the UK that serves non anglicised French food. However, the dining room is looking a little bit tired and it is... More

We've been going to French Living regularly over the years, and it has always been excellent. This time, however, we were so disappointed. Everything started off well: the wine is good. We all had the 'gastronomique' menu. The starters were fine, no problem. The mains, however, were a shambles. The bourgignon was so scalding hot it was inedible, and the... More

In true Trip Advisor style I expected to receive your review. Your visit, your complaint, your language, your anger, left an indelible impression on our team, particularly Audrius who was at the receiving end of your abusive language. What a shame that all the kind words of gratitude and delight received by customers on the same night do not write... More

Don't forget it's also open for lunch, same food, slightly cheaper, or a lighter dish such as a galette. The food is so wholesome as well as tasty.

Recently have had two stunningly good Christmas Meals at French Living. Impossible to fault. Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented. Delicious fairly priced house wines. Staff delightful. Service good and attentive, despite being very busy. Already looking forward to another meal there. The pre theatre menu is excellent value.

Still the only, real authentic French cuisine in Nottingham. All the tastes and smells you'd expect; close your eyes and listen to the staff speaking French and you could be sitting in a restaurant in France. We all had the Menu de Fêtes which was superb. I take my hat off to Stéphane, who after 20+ years has kept to... More

Thank you. I will pass on your praise to Stephane who refuses to read TripAdvisor. In the early days, it was very difficult to keep on believing and stay firm to our mission. However, as time went on, with a wonderful loyal following who quickly understood our authenticity, it became easier to stay true to French Living. More

Thank you Roger and Sara! Getting things wrong makes us human, real, true....it's how we deal with the mistakes that matters. I am always striving to ensure we get things right first time, but when things do not go to plan, I sincerely hope you are looked after and still leave with a big smile on your face. More

French Living might not be the most catchy name for a restaurant, but it is strangely appropriate because this restaurant probably provides one of the most authentic French everyday eating experiences outside France in my opinion. I suppose the fact that I have now eaten in French Living three or four times gives an indication of how much I like... More

Wow, what a wonderful review! Many thanks. Let me briefly share our history (we have been around since 1994!) This will help explain the origins of our name. In 1994, my Corsican husband Stephane and I, opened a little shop called French Living, selling everything to do with food from France - promoting the French lifestyle, the French way of... More

A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
