My daughter and I had dinner here before we went to see Chicago. It is a charming little place with a very french feel to it. We both enjoyed our food. We had the venison terrine starter and I had hake with a white wine sauce and my daughter had chicken with a red wine sauce. It was all delicious.... More

I ate here last night as part of a large group of 12. we had pre -ordered our choices from the £22.90 menu de saison and I was impressed that our individual choices were set out on the table as we arrived as often you tend to forget exactly what you have pre-ordered! The mousse de poissons was delicious and... More

I apologise on behalf of our team for your disappointing onglet. As you say, this should have arrived warm. Sometimes errors do occur, particularly during a busy service, but if we are alerted to our mistake, we can turn things around very quickly. You could have changed your order if the onglet was not to your liking ( it is... More

My wife and I are frequenters at this restaurant. Every time we've been it has been an experience we've enjoyed or loved. Starting with my birthday some years ago, we have returned again and again to this special place in our town and in our hearts. Nearly every birthday or anniversary since has been celebrated with Stéphane and the staff... More

We have been coming to this lovely restaurant since the day it opened and it never fails to deliver a wonderfully tasty and superbly cooked French meal, with 1st class wines, even if you just order the house carafe. Audrius as always made us feel welcome and relaxed again this evening. How anyone can write some of the awful reviews... More

visited this restaurant for an early dinner and it was a mixed bag. I enjoyed my beetroot soup and the escargot however my main meal which was the stuffed lamb was a bit bland and it was more stuffing than meat.

I am in love with this restaurant. It has amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food is just out of this world! I love that they change menu.. I had dinner in French Living 4 times and each time it had a different menu. I would recommend this place.

Having spent many weeks in France we are familiar with the lunchtime Fixed price lunches that are offered over there , many of which are really good. Not so in French living. The starters were Acceptable , middle of the road stuff. The main courses came accompanied by salad that was brown round its edges. Although my fish was nicely... More

Oh dear, as you say. I'm struggling to understand what happened here. The one element of your critique where I can be of some assistance is concerning the salad. I have had customers who have made the same mistake and believed the salad is old. We use oak leaf, which is brown around the edges - its a beautiful leaf... More

I left Nottingham over thirty years ago. How things have changed! There is is thriving food and drink scene that we could only have dreamt of back in the 80s. This was our second visit to French Living and we've loved both occasions - one as a couple then this time a part of a large group. This is a... More

We had been to an early cinema and went on spec to French Living where we had been twice before (some time ago). It was very relaxed and we each chose one of the set menus. Both were good and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overpowering.

Description
A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
