Found this pub due to Trip Advisor. Sunday Lunch was really good and the roast Roast Beef so tender it was like cutting through butter. We absolutely loved it. Cheers

We booked the Royal Oak for Christmas Day lunch and we were not disappointed. Everything was absolutely delicious there was so much food but we managed to squeeze bit in between tasting all their great gins! The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very friendly and happy even though they were working Christmas Day. The landlady never stopped smiling throughout... More

It's many years since we have eaten out on Christmas Day. Today was absolutely fantastic. Our host was extremely welcoming regardless of the fact she was working Christmas Day! We dined in the private Snug room which made it feel very homely. The five course meal was delicious although we were all struggling to eat more by the time pudding... More

Overall the food was good and well priced. Our mains (duck and venison) were over done but the rest was good. The service was warm and friendly. We would come here again on a night that wasn't so busy.

We were just walking around and decided to stop there. They have a lunch menu 7.50 pounds. We ordered fish and chips, and the children ate burgers. Food was excellent, and the beer was just perfect.

After trying to find some where to eat during a busy weekend in york out of luck managed to drop on this place. The food was lovely and the lunch time menu was excellent value! We were seated upstairs and felt the staff couldn't help us enough - will definitely visit again the next time we're in York.
