Ordered a veggie sausage sandwich (or so I thought). Once it came I checked twice with a waitress who confirmed yes veggie. Took a couple of bites, still unsure so asked a different waitress who said it's meat. Really upsetting.

Ashamed to say this was my first visit, even though I live in York. Friends had recommended it. Fabulous ice cream. I tried lemon and basil; and crunchy cherry. I was worried that they might not go together so they gave me a little taste....Oh man, how they went together! They were both gorgeous but tge lemon and basil was beyond divine. My husband had pistachio gateau and ricotta, honey and walnut. They were both delicious too. Not the cheapest ice cream but So tasty. Really unusual flavours too. Can't wait to go back!More

It can get busy but the ice cream is to die for and get generous in portion sizing. Great coffee too.

Visited this place several times this month and the ice cream has not failed to disappoint. Tried various flavours including pistachio, lemon pie, vanilla, passionfruit and whisky. Staff were friendly and my cappuccino alway came with a little tastier Ice cream on the side.

I have never been spoke down to so rudely by someone working in customer service. Degrading and rude, there's an arrogance about the people who work here! Avoid at all costs, the ice cream in basic and boring. Nothing special.

We went in today with our little girl who was hungry and looking forward to the visit for breakfast. Before I carry on with this review I have visited in the past and always had a good experience. We got sat down, the young lady...came over and took our order. My little girl ordered pancakes with syrup. She came back straight away to inform us they didn’t do golden syrup but can do strawberries or chocolate 😊 That was great and told her she’d like chocolate. She brought the drink and we sat chatting for 15 minutes. We ordered a sausage and egg sandwich and bacon sausage and egg. She then came over after we had sat waiting a long time!! Almost long enough that the food should of been ready to tell us “all we have is bacon” at the same time she was making that smiling laughing reaction which really mad me mad!! We where in a rush for a 70th birthday party, I get one day off a week and the morning was ruined 😡. I go back to the fact I have visited before but for some reason when the head guy isn’t there it always seems very flustered and un organised. I think he keeps the young kids under control and manages the place very well. Unfortunately again when he isn’t there I get the feeling that it’s a group of young kids with no proper control or management skills. Been from a hospitality background myself I know this sort of behaviour and organisation can not be tolerated. We certainly won’t be going again and hope that management read this and can nip it in the bud ASAP. Businesses can only run on leadership and quality of staff. Unfortunately today there was none of the aboveMore

Having read several good reviews, we headed to Wheldrakes for an afternoon coffee and cake but it was closed all day Tuesday. Fortunately we stumbled upon Roberto café just a few doors down and what a find. Homemade delicious cakes, homemade ice-cream and a piping...hot Latté. Roberto and staff extremely friendly and service with a smile. We each had a slice of Roberto's homemade cake and a complimentary mini ice-cream that came with the coffee. What a delightful experience and a clever USP. Can't wait to return. Definitely our 'go to' cafe in York. Well done RobertoMore

I live and work in York. Frequently walk past this place and never been in. Was walking home from a meeting and felt a little peckish and fancied a coffee. Spotted some of the delightful pizzas innthe window and thought. Yeh why not. Was only...expecting a standard latte and slab of pizza heated up on a plate. What did I get... service with a smile. Two girls behind the counter are friendly and hard working. Clean tables, nice music and my coffee came with a complimentary mini cone and sample scoop of theur gelato ice cream! I've never had that before in any cafe or restaurant ever. And it was only £2.70. You would pay that and more withought any extras! I sadly quickly licked it off before the photo but you will get the gist! Pizza arrived well presented with side salad and crisps. Again it didn't break the bank compared to places like Costa, Starbucks etc. Not that I don't those places of course. But yes, I'll be back. And the gelato ice cream was also to die for. Home made with love. What a lovely little business. 💕 My only criticism but is an easy fix is that the menus could do to be reprinted as they are a little blurred in parts. Otherwise my new favourite drop in. XMore

We came upon this when walking around York and glad that we did, as it was such a great find. One of the best places to get Gelato, Italian bakes, cakes or even a coffee or tea. There is some space to sit down but...limited, so be weary. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We will be going here again for sure!More
