Possibly the worst attempt at houmous I've ever tasted but everything else was fairly tasty and at £9.95 for 2 courses very reasonable

An absolute gem. The set menu was of very high quality and thoroughly recommended. Quite simply the best confit of duck I have eaten. The food was delivered straight from the pan and tasted sublime. The layout gives a sense of intimacy and relaxation. Simple and stylish. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Great location just inside the city walls... More

Well worth a reservation this small restaurant has delicious food averaging about £35 a head for 3 courses and wine. Lots of locals came in. We will certainly go back.

We had dinner here one night in September. It is down a quieter street in York, away from the stag and hen parties. I had the 2-course meal, with the Serrano ham, walnut, and Stilton salad, and the duck confit. Both were excellent. Service is excellent, food well prepared, and reasonably priced for the quality and experience. Highly recommend.

We had the lunch time meal. Can't argue with the prices, £14 for three courses. The service was polite and friendly.

Decided to have a leisurely lunch as part of a day out in York and chose this venue from the many options available. This restaurant is hidden away not far from the minster but is well worth hunting out. A small frontage belies a number of rooms to the rear all offering a comfortable dining experience. We received a warm... More

There are times when even the chef does not know how good his dishes are. This is a classic example. Rump of lamb like this is what the so called 'celebrity chef' aspires to cook. It just melts in your mouth. The bubble and squeak with sweet potato, green beans and carrot julienne AND a gravy to die for was... More

We went for a meal on a Saturday evening with friends. Restaurant is quite cosy, but the tables were nicely spread out, and we had a good table for 4 in the back section of the restaurant. Despite attending on a Saturday evening, we were still able to order off the Set menu, which was 2 courses for around £15... More

Excellent food. Enjoyed by all. The set menu for £19.95 is excellent!! Only downside was there was a party (60th) who were a bit noisy and twice the proprietor had to tell the 'Birthday boy' to keep the noise down in respect of other guests. BUT on the good side when their food was served they were as quiet as... More
