We stayed across the road at The Holiday Inn and popped here for breakfast, Eggs Royale and Pancakes as well as coffee for little over £10 is a bargain, so you ultimately get what you pay for. Cutlery was tarnished and some dirty, which staff were immediately happy to replace. Crockery the same, my coffee cup was covered in coffee stains on the handle and side. Overall the quality of the food is average for this type of place, the coffee is okay with Unlimited coffee and tea for less than £2 and a wide range of drinks to choose from including Latte's, Americano's and Espressos as well as Decafe tea and Soya Milk for those avoiding dairy. I would visit again if nearby.

Visiting York for a few days with family , this was our go to for breakfast , always good value for A Wetherspoon breakfast the Eat out to help Out offer made in even better value . The food was well cooked and arrived quite quickly . Ordered via the app disappointing on the last day that despite opening at 8 no food was available to order until 9:00am. Social distancing well organised staff friendly . We also attended a couple of evenings on the first evening after ordering drinks on App it was 20 minutes before drinks arrived . On second evening service was quicker even though it was busier and the food we had was good , well cooked (mixed grill) and tasty . The whole duration of our visits there was no lemonade or Pepsi available which isn’t good for a pub , there did not seem much urgency to get rectified . Good overall could be even better with a few small improvements .

We visited early afternoon through the week for a family celebration. We expected basic food & service, which would have been acceptable in these uncertain times, but were pleasantly surprised. Even though it was busy the food was great quality. We ordered 4 different mains, all were delivered with a smile they were excellent quality for the price and all looked good and tasted good. Everyone enjoyed their meal which made the day. The staff were smart & friendly. Well done!

This bar is really badly run. We stayed for a weekend at the hotel next door and each time we visited this pub was a disaster. On the Friday evening we tried to call for a nightcap at around 10:15 to be told at the door the bar was closing, no reason for this was given. The next morning we called for breakfast and were told that food service was suspended whilst a delivery was being dealt with. The impression given was that this would not take long so we decided to wait but after almost an hour we were told that when service restarted breakfast would no longer be being served. If we had been told this in the first place we wouldn’t have wasted a valuable hour of our time in York. The icing on the cake came on the Saturday night when we had to queue to get in. There was mayhem in the queue as some people seemed to be admitted without having to queue. A drunk person stumbled out of the pub and lay on the ground for a while before unbelievably being allowed back into the pub. Finally, a scruffy unkempt bar tender was extremely rude, arrogant and high handed to us. Customer care is sadly lacking at this pub.

Wish I'd read the reviews before we went into this place for breakfast last week on our Trip to York. It was pretty minging, one coffee machine was not working so the queue was really long for the one working one, people were not following covid guidelines and just bumping into each other. We ordered on the app but we had to go and find our own sauces, salt etc because our food plates were dumped on the table and we never saw a member of staff again. We wouldn't go back there, it was minging.

We (Our party) visited 3 times during our vacation to York, twice being for breakfast and once in the evening for a small meal. The place is decent looking and has lots of seating to choose from and very clean. The bar is large with a good variety of drinks on offer and some decent ales on tap too. However, this review does have some cons to it, sadly. The first came on the evening visit where one of the group wanted the half rack of ribs, but couldn't eat the onion rings due to food allergy/intolerance so asked politely if there was any way of substituting them. The person serving ummed and ahhed for a little while with an attitude that suggested that the person was just being awkward for awkwardness sake for asking to sub the onion rings and then eventually went to the kitchen to ask. When he returned, he instantly said no. It was only when the intolerance was mentioned that his attitude changed and he suddenly became apologetic, yet still refused to make any substitutions. The individual in the group ended up suggesting to order the half rack as a side dish (Which is an option on the menu) with something else, which should have been suggested in the first place and made zero sense as to why the substitution couldn't have been done anyway considering this was an option! The second thing was when someone in the party requested the vegan breakfast the following day. They served her 2 eggs. You don't serve a vegan eggs, yikes! It appears as though she ended up with the vegetarian breakfast instead. Then, the next day, another person had his breakfast arrive minus an egg, so that had to be brought over as well. The eggs were also underdone with slimy, clear white that was not at all cooked dripping off of them. Complaining didn't really get us anywhere and we didn't fancy continuing on about it, as we were there to enjoy ourselves on a break. A few hiccups that ruined what would have otherwise been good visits. The food (Besides the eggs) was cooked very nicely, so it was a shame these things happened.

Used this particular Weatherspoons whilst staying next door at the Travelodge hotel. Huge place with lots of seating/standing areas.Had breakfast here and it was yummy. Loads to choose from, decent portion sizes and great value for money. Refill your tea or coffee as many times as you want. Breakfast is served until 12 noon. Over 20 odd choices, so even the fussiest of eaters are catered for from vegan to dishes under 500 calories. Free wifi so great place to grab a drink and catch up on social media and emails. This particular Weatherspoons has over 40 odd different Gins which is split into Flavour Profiles from "floral to citrus" so huge choice for Gin lovers!! They even have "A little Book of Gin" which tells you about the uk and world gins. Gotta love a Weatherspoons, always great food and drink and value for money.

A busy Wetherspoons within ten mins walk from York centre in a modern building. I had a steak meal which was good - steak slightly over-cooked from my order but at the prices it is hard to grumble and it was a nice steak with sides all cooked and presented well. Good selection of beers including a few local ones all at very reasonable prices (I paid £2.29 for a pint of something that cost me £5.80 an hour later in York centre). Place was busy but appeared to be plenty staff to cope and I found them friendly and helpful.

Recently had some food here whilst on an overnight trip to York. I had nachos and hubby had a burger. The food was good and interior was nice but the barman was so rude. I went to order food at 10:30pm and the barman was visibly annoyed at having to serve me. I've worked in hospitality myself for over 10 years and appreciate at the end of your shift it certainly is hard to keep upbeat but be respectful and don't talk about how rubbish your shift has been to your friend across the bar when your serving a customer.

So after staying in the travel lodge adjacent to the posterngate with the fire alarms from wetherspoons going off at 6 in the morning we headed for breakfast to find it didn't open until 9. Once in was greated by a not so friendly guy who seated us. It was absolutely freezing too. Once we had ordered breakfast we were overwhelmed by the stench of feaces(smelt like sewerage)actually made my eyes water. we made them aware and asked to be moved, their reply being 'oh yeah we are having work done' not and apology or anything. This put us off eating to be honest. When the food came, both sets of cutlery still had food on them. By the time we got clean cutlery the food had gone cold. Will not be returning again that's for sure.

Visited once as wanted breakfast before we started sight-seeing. However, upon arrival at 11 we learned that they had already ran out of food. There were no signs up stating this we only realised because it said all the food was out of stock on the app. However we stayed for one drink and the staff involved in this were very friendly. I like spoons because it’s cheap but I’ve never known one to run out of food before.

We’ve popped in here 2 days running for a bit of lunch. I really don’t know why people complain “It’s a Spoons” you know what you’re getting before you go through the door, food & beer at a reasonable price. This one the food is very edible & Budweiser at £2.79 a pint what’s not to like.

Hi we ate here for breakfast - 2 slices of toast, butter and jam £1.99 and 99p for coffee and refills. We also ate here for our evening meal. The meals were served very quickly and on hot plates. I had a chicken wrap and the amount of chicken was huge. Would highly recommend

Went for breakfast. Was told on arrival that they were unable to serve any form of a full English but went to order on the app and you could buy all the stuff you would get on a full English separately. So was completely confused to why that was the case, I really hope it wasn’t to make more money off their customers. Once we got our food, it was okay, slightly cold like the items had stood a while before serving. This didn’t surprise us as we got our food before our drinks, which was a glass of OJ and a cup for my tea. Staff were not the friendliest either.

Good plate of breakfast. Quickly served after ordering. Hot drinks had a dangerous system. People walking about with boiling hot cups of tea in search of milk. LONG queues for other hot drinks as they were self service. By the time you got your hot drink, breakfast was on your table and cold! Cheap and cheerful - good value for money. Just need to sort the drinks system and then all would be great!!
