The YorkyPud(TM) wrap was average at best, it was worth trying but wouldn’t have it again. The vegetables are clearly out of the frozen section of Iceland and the meat portions are weighed out and stingy. Service was extremely slow, even though it wasn’t busy.

Pork Sandwich lovely but SLOW service. It was lunchtime, there was a queue of about 5 people. But the time taken to get served was excessive; most of the staff seemed to be stood around or operated at a slow pace. However, the pork sandwich was great although at 5.40 isn’t a cheap lunch! Slightly perturbing that every portion of meet is meticulously weighed out.

We've all seen the videos on social media don't believe the hype. I saw this video on a food bloggers page and thought I'd give it a go. For starters it's a frozen Yorkshire pudding, the meat was tough and the veg was cooked within an inch of its life. Can only say the horseradish sauce stopped me from binning it. Tourists might love this sort of thing but as a fellow born and bred in Yorkshire there's not much Yorkshire about it.

My tip here would be not to eat here and keep walking. There were just 7 people in the que in front of us. It took roughly 35 mins just to get served. The 3 staff were ultra slow, chatted nonsense constantly, had no sense of urgency and to top it off got our orders wrong!! The pork was tough and overcooked, bread not fresh, apple sauce added when we clearly asked for none and the staff were more interested in staring out of the window clearly wishing they were elsewhere. To add insult when' just eat' or 'deliveroo' couriers entered the shop they were passed their order immediately and the staff had a little banter with them and then went back to their miserable selves. Who ever owns this shop needs to go as a secret shopper and just see what a disappointing experience it really is.

Visited for the first time this afternoon for my fiances birthday. Ordered a turkey wrap and a beastly pork sandwich and went to eat in upstairs. After he took a bite out of his beastly pork sandwich, he noticed there was mould on the bread. I went downstairs and notified the staff who apologised and remade it for him. After going back upstairs, he took a bite out of the fresh one and then looked at it, only to find there was mould on the bread AGAIN. First time I can accept the apology and move on, but for this to happen a second time is just absolutely not acceptable. Because of the waiting times I had to endure, my food was then ice cold. I was pretty fed up by this point. I went back downstairs for a third time and told them that because I have had to come down twice to alert you of a mouldy sandwich, my food is now cold - in which I was offered a fresh one. I said OK, but honestly I wish I had asked for a refund. I was brought my wrap but by this point I was passed hungry and fed up, it ended up wasted. This was at the start of a lovely day out for my fiances birthday and straight away it got ruined. I wasn't offered any money back, I was given some pork scratchings extra and after the lady came upstairs with my fresh wrap, I told her that my partner said he doesn't like them and she just took them away. I got nothing more, I spent £15 all for nothing and a very disappointing experience. Will not be returning.

Hi annonymous2047. We are really sorry to hear that you had such a poor experience when you visited us. I would like to investigate this further with the Manager of the shop as it is just not acceptable. Please could you email me at contact@theyorkroastco.com so I can just check a couple of details with you before I speak to the Manager. Thanks. Debbie.

Not sure how this place managed to have a few branches around the north. By looking at their website, it seemed good enough to give it a go. Due to covid, most people grab the food as take away but you can still eat in. They do not have regular cutlery, but only disposable ones which makes it hard to cut the meat. There is no atmosphere at all. The quality of the ingredients was appalling, the food was lumpy and heavy on the stomach and I was immensely disappointed. Not a restaurant at all, simply a basic student take away that lacks quality and taste. Having paid 8 pounds for a beef pudding dish, would have had a better value at ANY local pub.

Hi triptripexpert. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I apologise that you felt we were not up to the quality you were expecting. Although we do have diners in all of our sites they are for casual dining only We do not offer a restaurant service, hence why the cutlery is disposable (although compostable). I will certainly speak to the Manager about the lack of atmosphere and the poor quality of ingredients you experienced as this is certainly not what we are about.

Yorkshire pudding which should be the star soggy and fairly flat - roast potatoes should be crisp on outside and fluffy on the inside - these had clearly been sat for some time and were neither crispy or fluffy. Veg was overcooked baton carrots with green beans and red onion that had not been cooked properly - stuffing was or poor quality and fairly tasteless. I noticed that when the staff cut the turkey it appeared to come from below the servery where the food is in the window and the staff member cut it up and weighed it before putting out a portion. Given that our family does not eat red meat the weighing machine had had different meats put on it without cleaning it. 1 Turkey meal, 1 vegetarian meal and 1 portion of roast potatoes with 1 portion of veg with gravy, 2 x pepsi and one bottle of water came to £23. I went with an 8 year old and a 5 year old who told me without a lie they can make better roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding themselves. We ate upstairs, dirty and very hot and the hand cleanser had run out. My advice don't waste your money, terrible advertisement for Yorkshire puddings. We sat next to a group of young men who all had the Yorkshire pudding wrap, their considered opinion was the meat was dry, no flavour and they wish they had gone to McDonalds!

Hi flufferamus. Thank you for your comments. We are very sorry that you didn't rate your visit with us. Loved the food had the Yorkshire wrap with turkey, staff were great, However upstairs were you can sit down the bins were full and trays everywhere piled up. with the turn over it has they need a staff member cleaning the tables and emptying the bins. If this was clean and tidy like a restaurant should be it would have had 5*

Ordered two Pork sandwiches with apple sauce and crackling, you would have thought the staff where going to a hallowe’en party with the state they were dressed, didn’t see any hygiene procedures being followed, same equipment being used to dish ALL products onto the bread, we asked for the BEASTLY size as was feeling hungry and when we got it was so small it was shocking, £5.75 each. What a rip off. The pork was only lukewarm and the pork crackling was not from the roast its self, it looked and tasted like the stuff you get in pubs in the little bags, This is not the first time we have been here and so was shocked to see what has happened to this shop, certainly wont be going again.

We decided we had to try a Yorkie wrap while visiting York. We decided to join the ever-growing queue, we queued for about 40 minutes to get in, which was okay but it was very cold and wet! We decided on what to order, 2 Pork wraps, we were asked if we wanted Potatoes in the wrap, we said yes and were expecting crackling too but this never materialized. We collected our order and headed upstairs, lots of tables but very messy and unclean. I checked our receipt and noticed we had been charged extra for the potatoes, not a big deal but we weren't aware they were additional add-ons, wish we were made aware beforehand. The wrap itself was great, really tasty and I think good value for money! The pork was a little fatty for my liking, but that is a personal preference. Really great stop off, just expect to queue!

Hi Chinchitchlud. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I will speak to the Manager to ensure that customers are made aware that the potato in the wrap is an add on and therefore chargeable. We are happy that you enjoyed your food and I am sorry that the diner was not up to standard when you visited. Again I will pass this on to the Manager to ensure that they have a designated diner person on when busy. Thank you for your feedback. Debbie.

We ate in, the food was ok, nothing amazing. It's basically a carvery in a takeaway box. We couldn't visit York without having a 'Yorkshire' pudding, but we've had better in other places. This was during the 'eat out to help out' scheme, so was half price, but when you consider that a sit down carvery is 7 quid these days, the full price seems a bit more than average for an underwhelming (it's a carvery, after all) meal in a box. Service was as you'd expect in any fast food joint like McDonalds/BK/KFC, nothing special.

Cannot emphasise enough how disappointed we were with our lunch on Monday. The food in the window looked incredible but apparently that is just a ploy to lure you in!! The meat was ok, between us we had beef , pork and ham. The ham and pork were lovely, the beef was dry. Stuffing was ok but nothing special, veg was ok but potatoes seemed undercooked. The Yorkshire pudding looked nice but was like biting into dry flavourless cardboard. The food was the best bit of our experience!!! The girl serving acted as though serving customers was a major inconvenience and she made it obvious she did not want to be there. The poor foreign couple who were in at the same time as us just had their food box plonked down on the counter without a word. They didn’t realise it was theirs for a few minutes and then were obviously looking for cutlery but the girl just completely ignored them and they left the shop without the means to actually eat their food. We went upstairs to eat, the table looked clean but was sticky . My daughter went to the toilet and said it was dirty. I went after her and was shocked at how disgusting it was! I have never seen a toilet like that in an eating establishment and it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the places we can’t see! We threw what was left of our food in the bin and left. We will never be back and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else go either unless they really up their service and cleanliness!

Our family visited here on a Saturday. It was before 12pm, so not too busy but I do know this place can get busy later on. There is limited seating upstairs if you want to eat in. The food is freshly prepared to order and does not take too long. We had the Yorkshire pudding wraps - I would say the value is pretty good with reasonable portions of meat and vegetables in them. Don't expect culinary excellence but it is so something a bit different when in York.

Looks very inviting from the outside, although the staff seem very nice, the regular sandwiches at £5.10 each are way over priced. Served on a small muffin, no butter, a tiny amount of horseradish, I hate to be ripped off like this. This place is just not worth the money, taking advantage of the tourist trade.

We were in York for the day and I spotted this place and was looking forward to a tasty, hearty roast what we got certainly wasn’t up the scratch for the price. A cheap giant Yorkshire (can get them in Asda for 49p) two slices of small tough beef, three small potatoes, a blob of stuffing, ONE green bean and some undercooked and what I imagine we’re frozen carrot batons. Will be returning, sorely disappointed.
