What a brilliant room upstairs. I won't spoil the surprise because you must see it for yourself. I couldn't stop looking upwards. I am sure that this will do as well as it deserves to.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and have visited Trembling Madness for drinks previously. There was a good choice of snacks, meals and chef specials. We opted for a Christmas platter and a Madness platter, and weren't disappointed. Very generous portion and the speciality pork pies were outstanding. Must remember to come again on future visits.

Passing through the beer/spirits shop and up to the medieval part which is a pub. Must have walked past this place hundreds of times but decided to try it and wasn't disappointed. Selection of good beers on draught and the selection of bottled beers to match any. Staff were very helpful. Food was really good and home cooked from a... More

Had to visit this amazing quirky bar/eatery situated in the shambles. Reasonable price for a bottle of wine, we also settled for chicken pie and mash, the beef pie had been sold out. The bar was packed and the atmosphere was great, locals and tourists. Can't wait to come back and visit

Amazing, individual, well stocked and brilliantly conceived. Love this place. Top banana. If your in York and want a quick drink or a lovely different pub meal go here. Staff are friendly and the seating is just right. Some places are so greedy to pack so many people in that service becomes an issue. It's strange that the same places... More

Love York and this is one of many pubs in the centre that is unusual with very old surroundings. Has a very large collection of miniatures. Great staff very helpful and knowledgable ... cool name too 👍🏽

Went here with friends from work as part of a Christmas Day out. Not easy to find as it is above a shop but what a find! The medieval furnishings in a very small room were complimented by real ales. The smell of cooking sausage was delightful. Yes it would have been nice to have a seat and eat but... More

Popped in this lunch time for a rest stop and a bite to eat. Ordered the Blue burger, lovely and juicy and the Christmas Platter which had a good selection of meats and cheeses, pickles, pork pie and breads. I would highly recommend the Liquid Mistress ale, you cannot visit York and not visit this place, great for people watching.
