Had tea in the courtyard with a friend this week, my first visit, though I have admired the beautiful gardens many times whilst walking on the the Roman walls around the city. On a lovely sunny day it was unfortunate that we were unable to sit in the garden, or anywhere other than the courtyard actually, as a wedding was... More

This hotel is beautiful. Interiors and the gardens are wonderful. We had high hopes that the food would match...afraid not. We ordered sandwiches and salads at over £8 each what we got wasn't worth £8+. Processed ham and sliced processed bread (advertised as artisan bread). Hugely disappointing. To top it off we were over charged because there wasn't a tab... More

Thank you for your review. With regards to the food, I assure you that we source our ingredients from the finest suppliers in York and the surrounding areas wherever possible. We do not, and have never, stocked processed ham or any meats, and the bread is purchased from a bakery just around the corner. It does sometimes come sliced as... More

We stayed at Grays for two nights for our wedding. From arrival to check out we were spoilt rotten- complimentary drinks on arrival, scones and afternoon tea, and the bedrooms !!! We had a sneaky peak at the new bedrooms and will be booking again to stay as they are amazing. The bridal suite is out of the world ..... More

The lovely gardens and dining rooms deserve a better lunch offering than we experienced. Choices were limited and neither of us enjoyed the Greek Salad or the Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Lovely quiet venue next to the Treasurers House with a garden to walk around. We had our our room and enjoyed a very good lunch - most of us choose the crab salad which was delicious. Staff were attentive , friendly and helpful.

The hotel is tucked away in back streets near the Minster. It has a beautiful garden just underneath the old city wall. The service was a little slow, but we were happy to chat and admire the flowers. The food was good.

Went fit lunch with two friends on a Friday. Rumoured to be the longest constantly inhabited building in England this hotel is steeped in history. The public rooms are understand historical elegance and the gardens magnificent. The dining room is so charming and the views superb. Hidden behind the Minster this is one place you should go for lunch, afternoon... More

We were informed about this place by our hotel owner who recommended we pop in for a coffee. We noticed this walking round the walls and eventually found it when back on the ground, it's not that easy to find but please do find this place, you will not be disappointed. Who needs starbucks etc when you have places like... More

We attended a friends Birthday lunch on Easter Sunday. From the moment we arrived, being shown to the reception lounge nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Canape's were beautiful and imaginative, the lunch was delicious, very well organised and the surroundings are just delightful. All the guests were very impressed, Grays Court deserves to do very well. We... More
