On 19th December 2016, a group of fifteen of us went here for our Christmas party. We saw Dave in advance to explain all our requirements etc, which, once again he took all in his stride and even though we said we would bring our own xmas crackers, Dave said that they would be supplied anyway. Everything was setup and... More

When we first walked in there was a really strong sewerage smell but the lady took us to the back of the restaurant where it didn't smell. The staff we're nice but the fish was horrid, it had been re cooked as there were two layers of batter and one was very soggy. The fish was ok in parts but... More

Had takeaway from here a few times as it's our nearest chippy and it's always been lovely. Have to wait a little while on occasion while they do a fresh batch but I actually don't mind because you know they've not been sat there for an hour! Possibly a touch more expensive than other chippy's, but food comes nicely served... More

Recently had a takeaway - this was last chance hotel as previous visit a month earlier produced black edged rubbery fish. Pleased to say this was MUCH better. In fact back to usual 5/5 - suggests the young Hungarian? Gentleman needs to be doing the cooking as that was the missing factor when it all went wrong.

Hello and thanks for the review, Sounds like we didn't deliver on all our promises on this occasion and I apologise for that. We have investigated the circumstances and you are right, we were short staffed. But this what not through our own planning. On that particular day, we had 3 members of staff call in sick. As you can... More

Took a group of 98 to Scotts on the A64 near Tadcaster - the arranging prior to the visit was perfect, nothing too much trouble thanks to Roxy & Dave. On arrival 4 of our group who had indicated they were taking their own 'pack up' went into Scotts, without my knowledge, took seats taking our group over the maximum... More

A must visit Fish restaurant between on the A64 between York and Tadcaster situated at the Bilborough Top services. Scotts is not just a fish and chip restaurant the menu is very varied with plenty of other options if you do not want the fish. My wife and myself opted for the large Yorkshire pudding filled with prime beef stew.... More

Hi, Thanks for the great review, much appreciated. The beef is from Butchers Block in York and the stew and steak pie are home made on site. Many of the puddings are also home made, with dairy ice cream from Yorvale, just up the road. Smiley friendly service comes as part of the package. Spread the word and come back... More
