Visited here for the first and last time. Although there were quite a few other people in the restaurant I was seated tucked away in the corner in a different section. I ordered cheese toastie and mug of coffee, which was tiny.I waited about 15 minutes for the toastie, which was accompanied with coleslaw, salad and potato salad. The food... More

If you like traditional tearooms with lovely decoration and a huge choice of leaf teas, Bothams is the place for you! It is our favourite in Whitby and we always pay a visit. The waitresses are dressed in old fashioned black and white uniforms and the place is decorated with ornate wallpaper and dark wood furniture. The ambience and calm... More

Barmcakes were filled 1 x chicken + 1 x tuna salad, fresh and plenty of filling and not overpriced - would certainly visit their establishment again and would recommend their barmcakes which weren't on the small size.

We came across Bothams whilst strolling round the old quarter of Whitby an area we don't usually frequent but will in the future!! The tea room is upstairs over their craft bakery, there is a stair rider & looking at the twists & turns it would be worthy of a review on its own!! My wife & l had a... More

Myself, my husband and two daughters visited the tea rooms last week and were seated by a very attentive young waiter. We were given a while to browse the vast menu, and had our order taken by the same young man. One of my daughters is vegetarian, and the waiter went out of his way to find out if the... More

We were staying locally to this place so went in on our last morning to stock up on delicious local Yorkshire goodies, namely Parkin, Wensleydale cheese and a few things for the long haul back to London. Within a week, they'd all magically disappeared. The cheese (W. with ginger) was some of the tastiest I've ever eaten, and the parking... More

Had a good light at this traditional restaurant / tea rooms, also do very good cakes and scones. In addition to this outlet we found the factory shop on the outskirts of Whitby very good for a coffee and cake stop.

A wet December day in Whitby, expected this lovely cafe to be heaving but it was very quiet. Arrived at 11.15 and both ordered the full breakfast. What fab value - juice & coffee, 2 slices of toast (in a toast rack) with marg & marmalade, 2 rashers of tasty bacon, 2 big succulent sausages, mushroom, fried egg and tomatoes... More

You wait to be seated on arrival inside the first floor tea room and are then shown to your table by a smartly dressed waiter/waitress. The best tables are in the window as you can see shoppers strolling along the street below. The whole room has a refined air where I can imagine generations of ladies sipping tea wearing hats...
