THE best steak and ale pie (said my hubby and he ate a lot of it on the C2C) anywhere - substantial in size, loads of chunky, tender steak and delicious gravy. Plenty of veg and tatties to fill him up too. It feels like a local pub inside which is quite nice, very laid back but we were served... More

Went as a family group of 9, amazing food, great service and very prompt. I had the parmesan chicken which was nice and had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Also try the Viking beer on the hand pump, nice!!!

Pub itself a little 'tired' but the food is great, had small Sunday lunch which was huge portions, it would take a brave person to attempt the large !!!

Very poor quality, flavourless scalping with dirt vein still in. Cheap burgers. Never got askked if we wanted ice/lemon in our Bacardi and Cokes.

Big portions, great meat and tasty veg. We all had the Sunday lunch, the small portion is enough for a good appetite. If you have a large portion bring your eating pants.

Came here today with my gran, partner, brother, his partner and our 2 year old daughter. We had Sunday dinner (choices consisted of beef, turkey and lamb). The meat was cooked to a turn, plenty of veg and two big, homemade yorkshires, the one thing that let the actual meal down was the gravy, it was watery and bland which... More

Have stayed at Hart Cottage (just a few doors away) for the last couple of years and always drop into this pub every night after a hard day's hiking. The landlord, Neil, keeps a really good cellar - the Black Sheep is a particular favourite, and the pub meals are good, well-priced, and very generous in portion size! The pub... More

Where do I start? The only pub in the village, 3 minutes walk from our cottage. Black Sheep beer famous in the area. Advertised on the outside of the pub. Guess what? Twice now in two days - no Black Sheep!! Busy weekend apparently! So???! Order some more. The landlord seems a nice enough guy, but come on this is... More

Where do I finish , you didn't eat here or stay here and because we have a sign outside that was supplied free by Black Sheep and hence has it's logo on , you feel the need to complain, even though you liked the Real Ale we did have on and came back for more than one pint. !! As... More

Good pub food with friendly staff. Only pub left open in the village of Glaisdale. Sorry that the Anglers and Mitre Tavern pubs had to close. Greetings to all who remember us, Mike and Helen at the Mitre!

Thank Helen B
