We were introduced to this wonderful restaurant by friends who live in the area and live seafood. We had to queue to get in at about 7 on a weekday but we didn't wait long. I chose the crab salad and it was delicious. Infact I've raved about it to everyone since. The others had fish in different sauces. The... More

Really tasty fish, delightfully light and crispy batter and fluffy chips. We bought this from the takeaway and the fish was cooked to order, so I don't know if it would be this good after sitting in the display, but based on this experience, happy to score five out of five.

Party of 6 and a child one visitor from Brazil, showing them how we have British fish and chips. Food was excellent very tasty and cooked really well thoroughly enjoyed, service was very efficient. Duty manager was a little stern but better for getting to know. It finished off a lovely day visiting Scarborough and Whitby.

7 of us visited the Magpie for the first time. We really enjoyed the food which was great. Our group included my sons girlfriend who was visiting us from Brazil and it was her first ever fish and chips( imagine that) she thought it was so good she could eat them every day.. My only gripe is the staff could... More

On holiday from Thailand and always visit here. Extremely busy as always and had to queue as don't take bookings. However well worth the wait. Famous for its fish and chips but my wife plumped for crab salad and myself deep fried halibut. Both were prepared to perfection and service very quick which is amazing when one considers number of... More

Went here for dinner with wife and son last year - didn't even bother TAing it as its perceived reputation perpetuates the business's, it seems unstoppable. However, when we went for dinner, it was a perfectly fine experience, service perfectly fine, price was expensive for what it was. Allied to having to queue for my dinner, well it's not the... More

We have been here on numerous occasions and it's always been great. We always steer clear of fish and chips as good fish and chips tend to be the same wherever you get them from. So, we usually have grilled fish and seasonal vegetables. The fish is always cooked superbly, never overdone. The vegetables are always crisp and fresh tasting.... More

We had walked from Sandsends so werehungary by the time we got to Whitby. The smell of fish & chips as we walked into the harbour was just too tempting. I found the Magpie takeaway opposite their restaurant. They do a mini fish & chips which was ample for lunch. The fish SAS cooked from fresh so you need to... More
