Chose this restaurant because it cooks in vegetable oil. We weren't disappointed. The cod, chips n mushy peas were perfect as was the prawn sandwich with chips. Portions were plentiful. Service was quick and pleasant. Plenty of choice on menu. We'll be back.

We went to the takeaway.Brilliant choice for vegetarians and fantastic that the chips are cooked in sunflower oil. Great portion sizes, delicious chunky chips and great value for money. Couldn't ask for better! The young man behind the counter at 5pm on 4/3/17 very helpful and polite :) Will revisit next time I am in Whitby.

Came in over the weekend, we were quickly seated by a young girl, very pleasant and polite. It didn't seem to be overly busy. At first my wife and I thought the young girl was on her own, which would explain why tables weren't cleared. While waiting to place our order, two young lads appeared followed by a older one.... Having been to Whitby on a number of occasions decided to go again. Did consider trying one of the other restaurants but when you can get fish, chips and peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea for half the price, without the quality being compromised, then this is value for money. As it was half term week the place was... I visited with my family who love fish and chips. I'm vegetarian so it's difficult for us to all eat together. I really enjoyed the battered vegetarian sausage and chips. The batter was lovely and crispy. It was really nice to enjoy a tasty meal together.

The food was lovely however it was dripping in oil. We ordered onion rings and they were soggy and you could taste the oil. Otherwise the rest of the food was nice.

Oh wow! This place was so nice! Our waiter was really lovely and helpful and the food was immense!!! The fish was absolutely HUGE! The chips were gorgeous, the curry sauce was spicy but not too much and the peas were lovely. And then there was the Knickerbocker glory!! I'm coming back to Whitby just to eat here again!
