Marie Antoinette's patisserie is situated in what used to be the Whaler's Lodge antique shop in Whitby's picturesque Church Street. The antique shop was tiny; Marie Antoinette's capitalises on limited space by expanding upstairs into 2 rooms, one of which overlooks Church Street, and is great for people watching, and one at the back which overlooks the pantiled roofs towards... Visited this place today and had a very pleasant experience. They are really a coffee and cake shop rather than a cafe. We had our dog with us and they advertise as being dog friendly. Dogs can only sit in the downstairs part which is quite small. The upstairs part is accessed via quite a steep staircase as is the... More

Visited for lunch and was met by polite friendly staff. Was a nice lunch but average. Food is a bit over priced and lacking in variety- all there was to choose from was paninis or sandwiches with about 5 different types along with a bigger variety of cakes. Wouldn't recommend if you are a fussy eater like myself or have... More

This coffee/tea cafe was both a surprise and a delight. It looks tiny from the street and even more so inside. But go up the steep stairs inside and it is surprisingly spacious. When you do then the quality of the coffee and cakes, in our experience, make it all worth while. Especially the cakes and pastries were exceptional. When... More

It's our second visit here and still wonderful. A little small inside and the stairs to the upper floor are challenging to say the least. I had an extra strong coffee with a slice of Victoria Sandwich. Not sure if it was up to Women's Institute standards, but it was defiantly up to mine. Well worth the climb upstairs.

Saw this place the first day we got to Whitby and it looked so inviting. And we were not disappointed when we decided that tea and cake was needed and chose to eat here. Note - they only accept cash, and there didn't seem to have any price lists when you first enter. Saying that, the cakes tasted amazing and... More

We always make time to go here when in whitby. Tasty baguettes and cakes. In particular the double choc brownie cheese cake. Friendly staff and lovely spot to just stop and relax.
