Try to get a table by the window and enjoy the sea views from Whitby harbour to the cliffs above Sandsend. Great fish and chips - together with a choice of alternatives for those not liking fish, and great service.

it is now called The Fisherman Wife. It is still as good as Graveleys. Fish and chips a must, a window seat is for a look out to sea.

Visited here with mum on a cold and overcast afternoon to find a warm and friendly welcome. From the outside this looks like it might just be a cafe but don't be fooled, the food is top class. Both of us had garlic prawns starter and both had sea bass on a bed of prawn and pea risotto. All very... More

Went to Whitby on a busy day, here looked slightly more out of the way (i.e. not on the lower main front) and hence a lot of people wouldn't pass by - even though was nearly full. I had the Plaice, which was huge and very fresh, my partner had the fish pie which looked nice - and the fish... More

Called in again for our Fish and Chip supper last Thursday evening. The business has changed hands since we were last here a few years ago, but the views from the table are still great, the staff are still excellent, and the food is really really good. I had Cod and Chips, and the fish was beautifully cooked, and tasted... More

Had a great lunch with my wife and grandson. Haddock, chips and peas with an apple pie and custard for desert. All good portions and very very tasty. The staff as always very professional, polite and attentive. Well worth a visit, as the views looking out to sea are not bad either A great value for money

the fish was a bit watery - surely they don't use frozen fish at the seaside? Have had take away from the Leeds branch many many times over my lifetime and it is so much better, Asked why the name changed but didn't get an answer?

Called in Whitby for shopping. Met by man offering 'two for one', so went in for lunch. So obviously it was good value. This was a winter offer, so go in winter and find the bargains. Would I pay double? possibly not I think there are better places, but its a great location for lunch and could not fault the... More

In fairness to Graveleys this chippy is no longer owned by Graveleys. visited on 21st Feb 2014. Poor. Shall not go again. we both ordered f & c's. Scraps requested but did not get any. Mushy peas cold- sent back- still cold upon return. I counted my 17 chips!!! And gave them all names. When the size of the portion... More
