2 visits in 2 days for coffee and cake! Cakes are delicious, home made and so moist, shared them so we've tried lime and coconut, salted caramel, rolo and lemon and ginger, all fabulous. Will have to find somewhere else for the next 2 days because they close Tuesday and Wednesday. If you're in Whitby give it a try, you... More

Visited Becketts on a day trip to Whitby with my husband and dogs. Staff here were brilliant and couldnt do enough to help from making sure we were settled before ordering and sorting out the bli ds to stop the sun in our eyes. Goats cheese panini was lovely and the latte was too. Dog friendly too which was a... More

What isn't there to like? Great quality food (delicious soups, giant paninis, cakes, etc., all home-made); family-run, & very friendly; good service; great coffee (and teas); not a large, impersonal space; good-quality second-hand books available to buy, but which make an interesting decoration anyway; dog-friendly. I've been here many times, and rate this as the best 'coffee shop' in Whitby,... More

It is dog friendly and your well behaved pooch is welcomed and treated with biscuits. The food is outstanding and the quality is superb. The homemade soups are hot... More

Discovered this place a couple of years ago and I love it. Every wall is covered with second hand books to buy. They have a great selection. Dog friendly and the staff are wonderful. Children can order magic lemonade which they are alway super excited about as they need to say magic words to see that colour the drink will... More

It's been a year since I left Whitby, I used to go to my favourite place to get my lunch at this wonderful place. Amazing cakes, original paninies served with some salad (please try the tangy chorizo one), some vanilla ice cream scoops with cream, delicious daily soups... and the most exclusive vanilla latte ever made!!.. a lovely place surrounded... Perfect dog friendly cafe. We bring our puppy who is rather lively and the staff love him, are very patient with him & are very accepting of his boisterous behaviour! Gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere. Staff excellent! Would recommend

Went for lunch, best soup we've ever had (lamb broth) followed by huge slice of salted chocolate cake to share. Great atmosphere, great background music and very friendly attentive staff (offered and brought us extra bread and butter for our soup). A must visit when in Whitby and worth a special trip if not.

Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.
