A weekend in Whitby and we had to go the Beckett's twice for coffee and cake, between us we tried 4 cakes, all moist and delicious, wouldn't go anywhere else!

Really welcoming and friendly to humans and canines alike! The food was lovely and the cakes looked amazing but sadly we were too full to try them. Will definitely visit again.

Hadn't been to Becketts for a few years - as so many other great places in Skinner Street - but it was recommended for cake - so had to go last time we were here. Had to share a table - thanks Andy - but had a great bacon, tomato and cheese panini with coffee and an orange and dark... More

We arrived just after lunch to find the Beckett family in fine form .... as usual so I'm told. My sister, Sue, had told me that this was a cracking place for coffee and now I know why. We sat in the window to watch the world go by, which was very entertaining as Goth weekend was close at hand.... More

This is a real coffe shop with lovely staff, drinks and cakes with the bonus of book shelves full of used titles to browse while you sup. Well worth the climb up the hill as it's Whitby's best coffee shop.

Wonderful atmosphere in this charming tea shop. Homemade cakes are the best & the different flavours work really well. Scrumptious!

A gem of a place! So relaxing and friendly. Cakes (homemade) are enormous but many customers shared with their companion. Books line the walls and no one hurries you out, even after they have officially closed for the day. Our little dog was made so welcome, with her own water bowl and treats delivered to the table. Very reasonable prices.... More

Description
Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.
