A real treasure down a hidden backstreet

To put it simply 'incredible', the food is excellent, the setting is cosy, and the staff friendly and welcoming, the table is yours for the evening, so you are not rushed, due to this the service is not rushed, the mutton curry is a must, as is the jerk chicken, the pepper pot starter is the best I've ever had,... Love this little place owned by Denis from St Lucia. It has a simple range of food, honestly priced, but really you should have some of the creole dishes as they are the owner's passion. We keep coming back.. and will continue to do so.

The Lebanese restaurant has closed, and that is where we lunch each year on our annual Christmas shopping expedition. And then we found Chez Denis. The proprietor-cum-chef is THE Denis from the restaurant Des Amis, which has now closed. We loved the place, and we're delighted to find Chez Denis. Eggs Florentine for starter - I want to go back... Not bad at all - food was nice; atmosphere fairly intimate and busy and quite quirky; service very warm and friendly. Interesting menu. However, a few niggles, none of which major but together gives rise to an average overall rating. Seating somewhat cramped, even though a cold night outside, it was very hot & humid (kitchen extraction not great?), pricing... More

Went to this restaurant recently after reading some decent reviews, which was a huge costly mistake. The owner is a nice bloke and tries very hard but his food is very average. The soft shell crab starter at almost £10 was just a fried bit of mush on a plateful of chopped salad. The steak was nice but the Diane... More

Waitress service. Small but pleasant. Lunch menu was predictable but fresh and tasty. Atmosphere was friendly. I accidently found Chez Denis and like the fact it was not the run of the mill place. We were told they are now open of an evening and we would definitely give it a try next time we visit Norwich. Prices were comparable.

We decided to go to this restaurant on a friends recommendation and I can honestly say that I have not had as an enjoyable experience/meal for a long time! I had prawns to start with and they were stunning, for main I had the Fillet steak chez Denis and the steak was so tender I hardly needed to use a... More
