This was my first visit and I’m pleased to find a good bar with great views over the Thames. They have good virus controls in place and there is table service only. I’d suggest booking if you want a table outside. The young lady servicing us was very busy but still gave us efficient and great service. The food menu is standard pub grub, burger, fish and chips etc. I had the fish which was good enough. One if our party had the calamari, which I tried, and was cooked very well. The food prices are reasonable and the drink prices reflect an upmarket bar in a busy area overlooking the Thames. I’d definitely recommend.

We booked based on the menu online. I checked again on the day of the booking and confirmed the menu. When we arrived the menu was 100% different across all of the courses and based on the options, we wouldn’t have come here. Only one vegetarian main which I couldn’t have due to dietary restrictions, so I ordered from the kids menu which is fine. The Mac and cheese with slow roasted tomatoes arrived and was like slop. Watery flavourless sauce with lukewarm overcooked pasta. I wouldn’t feed this to my dog let alone my child. The lemon tart with sorbet was also tasteless once you get over the bitter sharpness. My bf didn’t finish it. The cocktail menu is extremely small with half being obscure, surprising for a restaurant with such a nice looking bar. This place is a classic example of looking good but not delivering. The only saving grace was the staff and the impressive covid measures in place. Will not be eating here again or recommending.

I decided to brave it and have a lunch meeting here. I felt really positive on arriving. There was distancing to the check-in desk and the manager was very thorough with questions and health and safety instructions. However, none of the staff were wearing masks and I felt they really weren't taking the situations seriously. I had to use the pin pad on the payment machine, no wiping of the machine before using it which I think should happen in front of diners, then once finished, wiped again. I could be a-symtopmatic! In fact, they should divide the bill so that you can use contactless. So, if I was to return here, I expect all staff to wear masks, sanitised wipes on the table to wipe cutlery if a diner wants to ensure they have been wiped, sanitised menus, payment machines wiped in front of the diners. and maybe staff can wear disposable gloved when bringing the food to the tables. Views a great and food is good too. They have not joined the Government's incentive programme for 50% of meals.

Am a local to the Sail Loft and a regular visitor, called in for lunch and a drink a warm welcome seated in a very well managed and controlled environment but sadly that’s where the positives end. Disappointed to see the menu had changed to offer a poor selection in order to maximise profit. Even tho we heard customers complaining about the food we went on to order. The server took great lengths to explain what a Ceaser Salad was, this was not necessary but would strongly recommend she shares her knowledge with the chef. The chicken was grey and looked as if from a frozen bag of diced meat, croutons - not sure some diced bread from a sliced loaf constitutes a crouton and topped off with grated Parmesan rather than the expected Parmesan shavings. We voiced our disappointment when it came to paying the bill the server said she would pass out comments on to the manager who was “busy” upstairs (drinking a Costa and chatting) we then got overcharged and had to wait for a refund but no print from the card machine to prove refund just a server telling us to “trust her”. You need to understand as difficult as these times are they won’t last and people have choices and they will vote with their feet and this is evident when you look at the popularity of the Oyster Catcher next door and how it has gone from strength to strength. I would have thought it was important now more than ever that you treat your customers with respect and deliver a quality product. Such a shame!!

Title says it all really. Went to eat out as a post covid lockdown treat (and 50% off). Had heard good things about this place (pre-covid) but was very disappointed. On one of the hottest days of the year the server could not tell me if they had an 'american style IPA'. They did, a Camden IPA a bit pricey at £6.50 a pint, but then again this is tourist central and they were charging £6 for London Pride. The beer was cold, tasty and refreshing, a pity the food wasn't as good. My companion had the harissa chicken which was actually quite good, but looked as if it had been heaped on the plate rather than placed. I had the fish and chips. The haddock was very fresh and tasty but was a very small portion hidden within a huge amount of overcooked batter. A fish batter should be a golden colour this was an uncomfortable shade of brown, maybe cooked too hot, too long and/or in oil that needed changing. The thrice cooked chips looked like I had been given the leftovers: too small, too few & with battered bits, and hidden under the battered fish. Again it looked as it had been thrown together onto the plate. Cannot fault the service or the server (apart from the poor beer knowledge) but disappointed from what I had heard about the place and most unlikely every to return.

I am local to this restaurant and have enjoyed meals here several times previously. However, this visit was a disappointment. We had booked a table outside, and on the hottest day of the year were given THE ONLY table not in the shade. We asked to move as there were free tables in the shade, but were told these were booked and the only free table was inside. Reluctantly we moved inside and kindly asked the server to let us know if a table became free outside, to which the curt reply was "once you sit down we can't move you as we'd have to clean the table again". Unfortunately in additional to this unnecessary drama, the food was average (the blackened salmon was pink and the avocado salad had two tiny pieces of avocado), and all of the staff seemed stressed and tired. It is a shame as I won't be returning.

My girlfriend and I visited this pub on the Thames for a Sunday lunch. The location is great and we have popped in for a drink in the past uneventfully, so we hoped the lunch menu would be good. Unfortunately from our arrival it didn’t bode well. The welcome was pretty much non existent and as there was no table service we had to order from the app but we were able to secure a table outside. We both ordered the roast sirloin of beef £18 with a couple of drinks but were forced to pay for the optional service charge before we had been served which I regret in hindsight. The food came out in less than 5 mins and I’m pretty that’s because they plate a load of them up in advance. The plates were cold, the gravy far too gloopy and the cauliflower cheese was a poor attempt at best. The Yorkshire puddings were decent, but even the sirloin couldn’t redeem this meal which again, unsurprisingly was cold. I wouldn’t eat at the Sail again, but due to its location I would go for a drink on a sunny afternoon.

Thank you for writing a review. I am sorry that things were not up to scratch on your last visit. We do offer table service is certain areas of the pub, unfortunately on the day of your visit, we must of found ourselves short staffed. Due to the pandemic and staff being asked to isolate, we have had to rely on our order pay service at certain times to see us through. This is initially not how we want to operate, but have found ourselves in the situation a couple of times. The bar is now out of restrictions and we can now welcome you back to the bar for service. We are trying to adapt to the ever changing environment as quickly as possible however we have clearly let is slip on this occasion and have left you with a poor impression. I hope that you will maybe give us another chance at some point so that we can hopefully redeem ourselves. Many Thanks Nicci

Three times since reopening we have been very pleased with the level of Covid spacing and hygiene. There is a one way flow through the downstairs space and one is greeted by a friendly staff member who explains the system. Tables are well spaced and hygiene is good. Utensils are delivered wrapped in a napkin with salt and pepper packs rather than the grinders that were once standard. Menus are disposable. The food selection was initially limited but is expanding to offer a great choice. Servers are just as friendly and helpful as before the plague! Lovely views complete a good visit.

After a really busy day we went here as we’d had a drink before and loved the view. Again today I can absolutely say the same. A perfect placement for a restaurant with polite front of house staff. But unfortunately it’s where it ends. My husband had a T bone steak at £31. He said it was literally the worst steak he’d eaten ever. It was not cooked to how he asked but also it was a very cheap piece of meat chewy and just not great. My granddaughter ordered a pasta dish that she took one bite and said I’m not eating that it’s really awful. The chips were really not that nice in taste. Shame as they have one of the best venues but have not got the best food. I would go back here for a drink but not to eat.

Two issues with the Sail Loft, which we visited as a group in October 2019. First issue: the bar staff over-charged for the wine we ordered, then obscured the contactless payments machine so we couldn't see. Second issue: the manager, having acknowledged that something wrong had happened has since ignored the issue. So in summary. not fully honest and not fully competent. If you are going to the Sail Loft, my advice would be to check the contactless machine and then re-check your receipt

Thank you for your review Martin. Very disappointing to hear of your experience. I have responded a number of times to you with no response. I can assure you that whatever you think happened...did not. The staff have nothing to gain from doing what you said as they would get nothing from it so i can 100% reassure you that what happened was a mistake and what followed looks like either crossed wires or a misunderstanding. I can apologies for both of those things, and do but not for what you are accusing. Please feel free to contact me at the pub to resolve.

My girlfriend and I were at the Sail Loft for a celebratory dinner. It's a beautiful location by the river but unfortunately location is the only positive of our trip. Things started smoothly with drinks and starters arriving within 15 minutes of us sitting down, the waitress' weren't very friendly or well mannered but covid adherence was very good. We were then left for an hour and a half before any mains came out. During this time our starter plates weren't cleared away and there was absolutely zero communication from staff. We asked twice where our food was and were practically shrugged off with no apology at any point. When food eventually arrived it looked like it had been heated in the microwave and last minute thrown on the plate. It was placed down infront of us with no apology, in fact no words. This a huge contrast from other establishments and experiences where staff couldn't be more apologetic and understanding, offering a form of compensation as a gesture for apology. For plates priced at around £17 I expected a lot more. Will not be recommending or returning, truly disappointed.

Please see response below for request for feedback from our experience visiting the sail loft April 2022 Extremely disappointing visit. We were a group of four arrived on time for the table booking we had made two weeks previously. We couldn’t locate a staff member to seat us despite asking and eventually we found our table by walking around and seeing our booking name. We sat down and began looking at the one menu on the table. At this point before I go any further I would really like to make it clear that I do not write reviews and this is the first time I have ever verbally complained due to service as when it is a special occasion and has been booked in advance and prices are a certain level you expect some service! Twenty minutes went by and we couldn’t get anyone’s attention for drinks order so again we got up and asked a member of waiting staff to order some this was in front of the manager. It wasn’t a great start as the staff member realised that the previous bill for this table had not been paid and asked us if it was ours which it wasn’t they then had to go and deal with that as the previous table had left however I understand why now but this took more time away from our experience. Eventually our drinks order was taken and we began looking at the food menu. On the original booking we stated that there was one vegan member of our party we didn’t need to go into detail that it was due to dietary requirements but felt safe in the knowledge we had alerted the kitchen and that there was a least one vegan option on the menu we are not fussy just want to be catered for if the menu states it can. Again we couldn’t find anyone to order food time went by and we finally got someone to our table we couldn’t use the app to order as the menu on the app did not fully match the paper menu in front of us. We were then told the vegan option was not available - due to this being previously mentioned on the booking we were not happy about this but without any further conversion about it the waiting staff decided to revert to their manager straight away no problem. The problem then was that no manager came and it took several attempts to remind different staff members we were waiting for the manager this is unacceptable by this time we are 45 minutes into our booking would expect to have a least ordered a starter even if it wasn’t in front of us so more wasting time what was meant to be a lovely evening on a beautiful day. After we tracked down the manager and no exaggeration it seemed to take an army we politely explained the situation and we didn’t feel our views were being understood despite the menu the service was appalling which we explained verbally and decided not to stay and went elsewhere. We were not happy to pay for our drinks and sadly we love the location and venue but will not be returning and we’re dismissed very easily. Please look after your staff fullers because it doesn’t look like anyone is happy working there and the customers can definitely feel that and are not looked after.

This pub is participating in the above scheme, We had the fish and chips which was excellent. When the bill was presented 50% discount was applied but there was also a service charge on the 100% portion of the bill. What was a £30 bill was reduced to £20

I booked this for my partners 30th birthday and we had a fantastic time here. The staff are incredibly friendly, the location is absolutely amazing with fantastic views of the River Thames and the building itself is beautifully decorated with a modern feel, that also nods to the heritage of Greenwich by celebrating the Naval history of this spectacular location. The staff allowed me to book this venue for 30 people with only a £50 deposit needed! The drinks were very reasonable, only costing £6 for a rum and Diet Coke! The staff even brought out the birthday cake and sang happy birthday to my partner! I highly recommend this location to anyone wanting a quiet drink, a dinner out with friends or as a location to celebrate your birthday! I am now determined to celebrate another party here or go to dinner at this lovely venue!

Popped in here bout 5pm on Sunday, place was steady away, lots of staff around and no problem ordering drink either via app or with staff. Prosecco seemed flat in the apperol spritz and we were told table was booked for 7pm but walked back past 60 minutes later and it was still empty and biggest bugbear was must of seen 8 couples turned away as fully booked yet upstairs area sat empty and closed down. Given how tough hospitality industry is at present seems pretty short sighted to me

Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.
