I visit Brick Lane every time I’m in London on a Sunday. I’ve always previously walked past this shop, seen the que (there is always a que) and thought I must try the salt beef beigel one day
Well I’ve finally did it and am kicking myself for not eating there sooner
I bought myself a salt beef and a Salmon and cream cheese beigel for my daughter. I got additional pickles and my daughter a squeeze of lemon. Mine was £4.80 and my daughters £2.20. Given that mine had a huge chunk of salt beef it was fantastic value and I can’t get over how good a deal my daughters was at £2.20
We both thought them amazing and there’s no two ways about the fact that we are definitely going back next time we visit

Monday 14th February 2022 Trip to Brick Lane. Trained it from Billericay to Liverpool Street then back one stop on London Overground to Bethnal Green. Then walk up to Brick Lane and the old/original Bagel shop. I got 12 x bagels, 2 x Onion Rolls, 3 x Bread pudding, 3 x Pistacio filo cakes and a prepared Hot Salt Beef mustard and Gerkin bagels. All for £18.

So hubby and I like a lot of people had a Staycation this September. I have a book that shows you secret walks around London. Of which we did a couple of that week. One being a walk around Spitalfields and Whitechapel, which took onto Brick lane. One suggestion was to stop at the the beigel shop and try it out . We both ordered the salt beef and pickle beigel which was very tasty. Freshly prepared in front of you. Hubby particularly liked the bread pudding. Very good value for money. Would definitely go back again....

Black splinters in the plain beigels. BE CAREFUL. Ended up with a splinter grazing a friends gum whilst eating a beigel. We have been visiting the other beigel shop a few doors along for over 30 years and stppped off to buy beigels there but as the queue was around the shop and down the road we opted to get beigels here instead. The queue was only a few people inside the shop but whilst waiting some staff were dancing and messing around behind the counter whilst customers waited patiently to be served. It was evident that customer service was not their priority with bad language being used by staff in front of customers. One older staff member seemed to be doing the job well whilst younger staff messed around behind the counter. On arriving home we found black splinters embedded in the beigels. Upon trying to phone the shop their phone is not taking any calls. I have emailed them for a response. My first and last time of coming here. In future I shall stick to the other beigel store that I’ve been a customer at for over 30 years without any issues and the beigels are always delicious. The queue is worth it. I would definitely not recommend this place.

I was staying in Shoreditch area recently where both the famous Bagel Bakeries (White board and this one with yellow board) are at walking distance. So I decided my own battle of Salt Beef bagels. I have visited the neighboring bakery multiple times but this was my first time trying this place. So to remove bias, I tried Salt Beef bagels from both these places twice.
My consensus is very clear now. There is reason the other one (White board) has more customer queues. On both attempts, I found Salt Beef bagels at this place quite stale. The beef was very chewy and bread was woody, I had to ask for extra mustard to finish them. Pricing is good but not worth it.
My recommendation is; stick to the other one. Staff at both these bakeries aren’t known for their friendliness and can be borderline rude sometimes, but at least you can get good tasting Salt Beef at other one.

Absolute rubbish, don't waste your time.
Cheap as chips but tasteless produce and not a Beigel in sight, they sell soft rolls.
The worst Salt Beef Beigel I have ever had in my life.
Tea was acceptable, service was brisk.
Not recommended.

Bought 2 plain bagels - they were still warm! Couldn't resist eating them straight away.. they tasted incredible, the texture was doughy and chewy, definitely the best bagels we've had. We went back and bought a dozen more to take home!

Amazing bagels. Went December 6th 8am with my sister before work. Amazing they are open 24 hours, family owned and have been here for 3 decades and still churning out great tasting bagels.
Love their salmon cream cheese and the salt beef is better than the famous one a few doors down.

As most will know there are 2 Beigel Shops on Brick Lane next door to each other. It seems the other one is supposedly the 'best' however after several visits to both I would rate this one 4/5 and the other 3/5! Controversial! This one has better service, more friendly staff and it also serves Jam Beigels (whereas the other doesn't), so have to say this is my fav (it’s also slightly closer to my flat!)

Lovely beigals and other delicacies- the cannolis are perfect - we’ve bought some for journey home. Has to compete with neighbouring shop which often has long queues - this one is a close second for beigals ,you won’t be disappointed.

Why in gods name are there women working here that are so rude! They don’t even use basic manners they talk to people like the world owes them something, there is another shop next door far more polite to people, I have been coming here for 50 years and lived here all my life, I was ashamed to take friends here last night!

The beagles are cheap, the food is tasty, the service is nice and they open 24 hours.
The communist in me is a little worried about the schedules of the workers, but the part of me that loves their bagels and its price wouldn't care even if the bagels were made by tubercolous kids in a coal mine.

Traditional bagels are nice, I'd recommend the cream cheese filling over any other ones. Unfortunate that they only had plain beigels left when we arrived. Shop could be a little cleaner inside.
