3 of my friends and I visited Simply Indian recently for the first time, after being told it was Borough gem and we were thoroughly pleased! It was a quieter Monday evening so there was plenty of chit chat and helpfulness from the chefs, who...are very happy to help. For it being quiet, the service was a little bit slower than we would have thought, but we were happy to sit and enjoy the starters and sauces given to us on arrival. The courses that arrived were beyond anything we were expecting, very well presented and my friend's enjoyed their meals. I was extremely happy when I'd ordered the Northern Thali (not really knowing what to expect and mostly wanting to try their paneer) which came out on a large dish with several smaller but substantial bowls of rice, dal, kaftas, curries, everything I usually want to order but can't choose between. I particularly enjoyed the dal, I often try to make my own version at home but this creamy and slightly spicier dish was more authentic than any version I had tasted before. I can't stop recommending this place and I'm so happy to have a local spot to take friends to which will be consistently delicious!!!More

Simply Indian is such a great restaurant and so reasonably priced. We’ve tried a few different curries and all of them were fantastic. Would recommend eating here and it’s BYOB!

The food was tasteless and expensive. I paid 40£ for me and my girlfriend. I ordered chicken Byriani and the indian bread which was burned

I’ve wanted to go to this restaurant for ages and it did not disappoint! The food is a cut above. Wonderfully spiced South Indian food. I had probably one of the best spinach dishes I’ve ever had and my fellow diner’s kerlan sea bass was...quite special. Delicately balanced dishes made with freshly prepared ingredients. A real treat.More

I hadn't realised this was a vegetarian restaurant but it didn't matter as the food was great. If you want anything other than soft drinks, you need to take you own as they don't serve alcohol either.

Simply Indian is only worthy of anything more than a 1 star review for the service of the younger waiter - big respect for tolerating such a challenging working environment. Sentimentality aside, there was nothing even remotely positive about our experience. Having arrived on time,...we were asked to wait outside whilst the ‘boss’ made up a table for the 13 of us (having paid a deposit for the pleasure). Upon questioning why we were being ushered towards a table that should accommodate no more than 6, plus a precariously positioned camping table at the end, I was aggressively pushed to one side, had a finger pointed in my face and told that I was ‘not helping the situation’ and instructed ‘to mind my own f***ing business and not worry about the hospitality’. Had we not paid the deposit, we would have left then. A restaurant ought not to be accepting such large pre-paid bookings alongside walk-ins if it is unable to accommodate both. I could not even get my legs under the camping table and was forced to sit on the end, away from the party, so that the waiters could get through. As for the food, it was distinctly unremarkable, arriving at different times, with some items not coming out at all. There appeared to be little to no consistency between dishes, with people who ordered the same things reporting different tastes. The Jalfrezi was watery and more akin to a Thai red curry, and one prawn dish was served without any prawn being present. When the highlight of the evening is the young waiter finally snapping at the abusive owner, you know it’s not been great. I guess it’s partly attributable to our naivety of dismissing previous reviews complaining of the manager and his running of the restaurant - do not make the same mistake that we did. You could not pay me enough to return.More
