I hugely regret going here. We sat down and were immediately offered poppadoms with some dips, which was lovely. (THESE ARE NOT FREE - £2.40!) Once we'd managed to ask someone to take our order, we did, but then the waiting began. We ordered a...soft drink and some tap water. The soft drink flat out never came, and when the meals came I asked for tap water, only to find that they don't give free tap water! I thought it was law across the UK, but because they don't serve alcohol they can use a loophole. So we had to pay £3.50 for some still water. The curries were watery and slightly cold. The bill was a scrawled mess (they just use the notes from when they're taking your order) and they didn't take off the soft drink that didn't come. Two curries and a naan came to nearly £40. Madness. Please do not go, it's a waste of money and an evening.More

Five mins walk from London Bridge at a very busy bank holiday eve, this little place provided a terrific and very tasty change from the increasingly flavourless fare in so many mainstream curry houses. South Indian so be prepared for full-on spicey experience but well...balanced with it. Friendly and hard working people preparing the orders fresh. Reasonably priced. I'll definitely pop in here againMore

Regret going to this place. Worst experience of all our travels till date.. We have gone to many countries and never been treated this way ever. That too by an Indian. Indian racism against Indians. The owner/waiter was extremely rude. Ruined our evening and dinner...completely. There were other people as well ( read British) . The owner/ waiter was very nice and polite with them. But with us, very very rude. We felt very humiliated. He mixed up our orders and when we told him he said " eat it you want to eat else leave it . Don't eat my brains". We were shocked . We somehow finished the food which was just about okay. Would never want to visit this place ever. A big big let down and a very humiliating experience.More

I absolutely loved the food here. It was deliciously light but perfectly spiced and very very tasty. Interesting and varied menu and all elements of the meal were faultless. Great selection of delicious breads and rice to accompany our main. Will be back.

Great meal in Borough-based restaurant. Delicious, finely cooked food with South Indian and Sri Lankan flavours. Both vegetarian and meat dishes were fab. Recommend!

We found this place by complete chance and weren’t disappointed! Its small and intimate, but very comfortable and nice atmosphere, also BYOB, so cheaper than a usual dinner out. There were three of us and we each got the Thali, one meat, fish and veggie...- a selection of lovely small dishes arrived for each of us, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The perfect balance flavours and spice! We will be back soonMore

We passed by the night previously and the menu looked OK. There was one table of five occupied then us two. Poppadoms appeared instantly. We ordered then waited........ for ages. We'll over an hour and the original five still had no food. We took a...bottle of wine. That went. Other punters appeared. People kept nipping out and coming back with bottles of beer. I asked a man on the next table where he got the beers and he said there was a pub close. The Royal Oak is excellent by the way. I went across and the barman said he was doing a brisk trade. Anyway, the food was tasty when it came but wasn't remotely warm and not what we ordered exactly. The men with the beers drank up and left without the food. It's awful and a bit funny.More

Absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. When visited apart from us there was just one other couple in restaurant which should of been a sign in itself.. We were greeted by the kitchen guy who said he's not allowed to take orders and the owner...would be here soon. He brought out poppadoms which we thought were complimentary.. We were wrong After a while the owner arrived and took our order. The menu or lack of menu is a sight to behold. Most of it is crossed off and looks like someone has used it for a word search.. Eventually after exploring various options to which the owner said no on each occasion, it became clear the choice was either Jalfrezi or Biryani.. We chose the Jalfrezi and waited for its arrival.. After a few minutes the kitchen guy arrived with the most watered down attempt at a curry I've ever seen. I've heard of watered down beer but watered down curry is a new one on me!! After attempting to mop up what we could with our nan bread we politely asked for the bill. Once again the kitchen guy stated the owner was out and we needed to wait to pay! The owner returned and produced an unreadable scrap of paper which he stated was the bill. The only readable part was the total. Over £40 for two curries!! We immediately called over the owner who now clearly agitated addressed the bill, and we settled up. At this point the other couple called him over as surprise surprise there bill was overpriced too.. A quick look at previous reviews shows this is a regular occurancd at this venue. Sadly we didn't read before we visited!! On the way out I visited the toilet. The door is broken to the extent that the bottom section of the door actually sticks in the frame whilst the top opens halfway.. To escape you literally have to kick the bottom half whilst punching the top half., Jackie Chan style.. To sum up its clear the business is on its knees, the owner clearly wants to fleece anyone who dares walk in for a curry soup or Biryani.. Only choices.. They have a bring your own alcohol policy and I would suggest you bring plenty and get absolutely blotto if you intend on being silly enough to give this establishment your money..More

Group of 4 us visited for the first time at about 19:30 and were the only customers which was not a great sign. One other couple arrived while we were there. The owner served us and was friendly. A few free popadums which was nice...but he took a long time to take our order - we were the only customers. The menu is minimal and quite a few dishes were not available (crossed through) including dosa, but when we asked about the dosa it WAS available. The food was tasty and the meat well cooked but the portions were very small and not exactly cheap. My wife asked for her biriani to be mild but it was too hot for her to eat. About half the portion sizes I have had in restaurants in South London/Surrey. The dessert options were very limited (just 2) and we ordered both - halwa and a rice pudding. Both pretty disappointing and absolutely tiny amounts for £8 paid. Nothing really to recommend this restaurant in my opinion.More

A delight to find this restaurant so close to my daughter’s home- so good when so many restaurants were booked in this area! Great food and hilariously cryptic and fast-moving manager. I hope he forgave me that we were actually double-booked-my fault. You can take...your own wine- a big plusMore

We have been to Simply Indian a few times over the years and our first trip back after lockdown did not disappoint. The food was extremely tasty and great value. There was just the one waiter which gives it a family feel. Will 100% be...returning again soon!More
