Second visit here and still good. Bought a bottle of red and headed out to stand because finding a seat is incredibly hard but shows how great it is. A buzzing atmosphere too.

My wife and I visited gordons Wine Bar on Saturday 22nd October, not surprising it was lively with people enjoying the wine and food on offer. It was there that my son took his young lady on their first date. It was there that he serenaded his young lady and asked for her hand in marriage on the 22nd. Thank... More

Love it here. A must when you are in London. Amazing wine, amazing cheese, amazing staff, amazing prices for the heart of London. Perfect go to place for before a show in the west end! The atmosphere is buzzing in this quirky non preciousness little gem of a bar.

A friend and I came to visit my family in Manchester and took a trip to London. Went in to Gordon's around 1-2pm and were lucky to find it absolutely empty, as they are usually packed. The atmosphere is like nothing else. You walk down stairs into a cave-like cellar and are greeted with the smells of an awesome hot... More

Loved this spot and came back to it twice because it was so crowded the first time. It was a struggle to get a table and all of the ones in the grotto with candle light were taken. People buy a bottle of wine and linger for awhile. We ordered a cheese plate and it was very generous portions. Would... More

Time stands still in Gordon's - Delightedly so. Great white port & simple cheese platters. Visited on a Friday night and sat outside. A lively place but wonderful atmosphere and excellent wine. Perfect place for a relaxing evening.

Very simple: went for a visit for 13 days in London (London), and a North American (California) with family there told me a must-go place - Gordon´s! Didn't told me anything else. One day i went stumbled on this particular "wine bar" and had an amazing experience: from the "decor", to the welcoming staff (rare in major cities), to the... More

This was our second trip to London and the second time to Gordon's Wine Bar. We had enjoyed the experience so much the first time we made it a point to attend again on this trip. Nothing fancy but lots & lots of atmosphere. Very friendly people and you feel very relaxed in the environment. Don & Natalie LeBlanc PEI... More

Whereas this place is hard to find, it is a must! Good quality wine and cheese and tapas platters with no more than 15 pounds per platter, situated in a place like a 17-th century cellar! Very special atmosphere, it feels like you 're enjoying your wine in the 1750s!

Brilliant London experience, pop in for a tumbler of sherry or port, a real subterranean experience, a fantastic piece of history.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
