Remember coming here with my parents 40 odd years ago as a child. The surrounding area had not been developed then and its confined smokiness made the whole thing very Dickensian. Now it is still popular and cosy which makes it almost impossible to sit inside which is a shame but outside still has a great atmosphere. One negative point... More

You are here for the atmosphere and for a glass of wine. The finger food was great but not really a place for a 4 star meal. There are tables out side that where you can also eat. Highly recommend for a glass of wine and a snack.

Unique bodega with massive terrace outside located in the heart of London. Came in with my date on Monday evening. The bar was packed which only means how good the place is. There is a really good selection of wine in reasonable prices. Will definitely be back and recommend the venue to friends and family. 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

I went there with one of my friends. We took 2 bottles of wine a lot of food and we didn't spend too much. Quality/Price is one of the best that u can get in London.

Chose this for a girl's night out, as I had been before, and we were looking for somewhere to go for cheese and wine. Mulled wine outside was good, then we moved inside to get cheese. The Brie was solid, as was the Tallegio - why serve cheese if it is not ripe? One toilet was blocked, the other had... More

If you want to go out with friends for a nice chat and a lovely time there's no such better thing as good wine & a cheese plate to nibble on. In this old "wine-seller" everyone feels comfortable as it is the greatest atmosphere for a good time with friends and colleagues. This is my favourite place to be in... More

I read about this on Trip Advisor and it sounded right down my alley, which it was. People say here ask why people like it and I can tell you it's the best unique hole in the wall you will find. It's like you are in an old wine cave -crowed, dim lights etc... try and find a table inside... More

Has to be seen to be believed. A series of low-ceilinged cave-like cellars at the bottom of Villiers Street. Ideal for a few scoops before getting the train.

Gordon's wine bar is located near Embankment and is located in vaults. Quirky place and good atmosphere though can get quite crowded. Outside terrace available when weather better. Wine is well priced at circa £20 per bottle. Food consists of assorted hams and good quality cheeses and French Bread. All round a good atmosphere

Thank Jim S

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
