Wanted to try a curry along Brick Lane and was not disappointed, surplus of very helpful staff that were happy to chat, make recommendations and constantly keeping an eye out for orders or top ups. Food was glorious, I genuinely struggled to finish given the...generous portions, definitely recommendMore

I live up in Scotland and came down to see what all the fuss was about this restaurant after seeing rave reviews about it on Youtube and also seeing it on TV. And to be incredibly honest, food and service was sublime - these guys...do deserve their hype. Had a thali as wanted to try a bit of their best and every single dish was balanced yet explosive on flavour - nothing lacked at all! I think we have a lot to learn up north - which I hope is high compliments for this Brick Lane establishment! Highly recommend it. We had dhal, , coconut rice, chicken dansak and aubergine bhaji. Delicious. Generous portions. We couldn’t eat it all.More

This was recommended in Time Out as one of the top restaurants on Brick Lane. Made a trip from York specifically to try it out and it also tied in with a job I was doing in the area. The visit was...meh. Some of the...disappointment, admittedly was my own fault for bigging it up to my colleagues I took there. I'd done my research. I'd planned the route from the hotel. This was THE place to go! The restaurant is quite far down Brick Lane, so we had to pass many, many restaurants. Outside each one, there were enthusiastic staff beckoning us to go in.. this one's the best sir...this one has the best curry you will ever taste sir... To each and every one we refused and marched on. We KNEW where it was at. We had committed. We had a purpose and a goal. That was to eat the BEST curry on Brick Lane. City Spice was its name. Beers ordered, Meat Thali for me. I'd premeditated this as part of my extensive research. The others ordered... I don't know, I didn't care. All that mattered was my thali. It arrived. My grin which I'd maintained all day froze into a kind of botox rigid state. The tandoori chicken looked dry as a bone. The raita, plain and slightly congealed. The CTM and sheek kebab looked average though so maybe it's all in the taste. Yes, that's it. It's all in the taste. Already one of my tablemates was comparing her curry to an average tomato based Italian dish with zero heat. It was starting to fall apart. The tandoori chicken tasted like it had been sitting on the side in the kitchen for the best part of a month. The CTM was like something that would be served at Dotheboys Hall. The kebab was average. The Raita might be used to strip the paint on my shed. My grin was fixed. I'd stopped talking but there were tears of disappointment appearing. My friends noticed and pretended it was all OK and I shouldn't feel bad. My perfectly arranged and carefully curry curated evening was in tatters. Never again would I be allowed to arrange a social evening. I'd taken everybody 250 miles at great expense to have a curry only half as good as my local takeaway. My shame was complete.More

Friendly faces, delicious food. I had the lamb Tyka korma and it was exceptional. The flavor was not what I’ve had before, but a certain amount sweetness took it over the top.

It's hard to choose which Indian restaurant to choose on Brick Lane as they're probably all really good, but this place stands out for their friendly service and quality ingredients! We had the lamb shank which was huge and still on the bone! Everything was...great for a fair price!More
