You know you're in a good Indian restaurant when most of the clientele could clearly judge the quality compared with home cooking. Friendly service, lots of choices, tandoori ovens inside near our table where we enjoyed watching the preparation of naan and meats.

When you first see the menu you will be a bit puzzled. Spain meets India meets Brazil. This is a tapas restaurant but the tapas dishes are Indian not Spanish and there is a fantastic selection of meat and fish (like a Brazilian restaurant). However the vegetarian selection is also excellent. The helpful staff advise how to tackle the menu;... More

I called earlier before going to Amaya, through the concierge of the hotel and the receptionist of the restaurant has assured that if I could make it in 20 min I would definitely find a table for the walk in customer ,therefore I took a taxi which took me exactly 20 min to reach Amaya , and as soon as... I went for lunch with my mother to this restaurant. It was our fourth time to eat there. Although the portions are small, food very tasty. The food is great with a high standards presentation. However, the only thing that I didnt give it 5 stars is the price. As it conceder to be an expensive restaurants compare to other... More

Indian fine dining is probably a small niche in the restaurant-field, and this is a great restaurant with exciting open-kitchen, tasteful dishes and a welcoming atmosfere. They have had a michelin-star for almost a decade - well-deserved! But there are still ways to improve the menu. The presentations could be even more impressing and look more like a piece of... Had a business lunch here a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food here is. Recommend to try the black pepper chicken tikka and the Fig/Spinach cakes, they are both absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated with attentive serving staff and a very cool open kitchen with huge kiln type ovens. Would... More

The menu was unimaginative, starters arrived late and cold, part of it was uncooked and had to send it back! The rest of the meal was ........ words fail me!! This is a Michelin Star restaurant, I can get better food from my local Indian takeaway. The best they could come up with was " tandoori broccoli with yogurt" this... More

Six of us had an amazing set lunch menu here. Dish after delicious dish of asian cuisine was brought out for us the ahre. Too many favourite dishes to mention, but the four accompaniments were divine, especially the coriander and rose petals, the hake and chicken byriani dishes were superb! Cocktails and wine were pricey, but it was a special... More

Lunch time visit, had the Amaya lunch special, good variety of starters and main course for £42. Starters of chicken, lamb and prawn with spinach and nan bread. Prawn and lamb chops particularly good. Starters came out so quickly had to ask to slow down, which they did. Friendly attentive service and asked if everything was Ok. Attentive but not... More

I think this place works on all levels. Ambience, staff, menu - wine selection and above all the quality of the food that they served last night. Textures, colours, flavours and presentation all faultless. The food style is a tad less fussy than that in the Michelin star arena and in my opinion better for it. Around £80 ( including... More

These are cooked in full view in a theatrical restaurant show kitchen It is a casual and joyous restaurant where people can relax and eat with their fingers if they wish. The real Indian food is designed to be shared and is served as it is prepared. There are no conventional first courses or main courses.Amaya achieved the rare distinction of winning the two most prestigious restaurant awards in the UK in the same year - The Tio Pepe ITV Awards for Best Restaurant as well as the Best New Restaurant. This is the first time either award has been awarded to a restaurant serving non - European food, let alone an Indian restaurant. In 2006, it also became one the very few Indian restaurants to be awarded a Star in any Michelin Red Guide.

Staying in Belgravia

Neighborhood Profile
Belgravia
Home to the vast majority of embassies and diplomatic residences in London, sophisticated and upscale Belgravia also boasts a wealth of luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and some of the city’s most stroll worthy lanes. While the prices here are high, taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of picturesque and elegant white stucco houses is free. Hyde Park and the Buckingham Palace Gardens are only a stone's throw away to the north, and some of Europe’s best shopping is nearby as well.
