Fantastic steak, moist and full of flavour, cooked to perfection - I wonder why Smithfield Meat market hold their Christmas do here..... Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

As "terrible" is the category for the majority of TaDa2014JS's restaurant reviews, we seem to fit her notion of a worthy target. She is describing a different place. More

After seeing good reviews of this place online, my girlfriend and I decided to try this place out. The restaurant itself is nice enough, although it was incredibly quiet on a Saturday evening. However our meal was interrupted halfway through by a regular coming in to the restaurant's bar area (next to all the dining tables) being incredibly loud, obnoxious... More

I am very sorry the ladies had an unpleasant time. They did tick off our regular customer for being too noisy, but his shouty enthusiasm is difficult to suppress, we agree. On the "off" Béarnaise, we require a great deal of it daily for our usually complaint-free steaks, so it's always made with fresh butter and tarragon and could never... More

We go every year and every year it is as good as we remember. The burgers are massive and so juicy, the steaks are excellent and this year someone had a steak hash which he also thought was really good. The booths upstairs are better than being downstairs as you can feel a little "locked in the dungeon" down stairs... More

And it is only a small but. The english ale is not quite right. The food, wine and atmosphere remain second to none. If you are a typical meat and red wine then there is no better value in london!

Thanks for your superlative ratings, Tim B, though now we might go mad trying to guess what wasn't "quite right" about our ale. The condition? The maker? The polish on your glass? Or was it only that the first class atmosphere put it in the shade? More

Had a good fillet steak at the Bountiful cow and a nice pint to go with it. Steak was cooked more than ordered but still very nice.

Visited for a drink this rather small bar in a more or less alley which is mostly deserted. Has weird wall hangings...good for small groups but has stools on counter for stool lovers. Does not look like decent but ok. Yet to try their food

Well, Eagle Street comes to an end not far beyond The Bountiful Cow, but Dane Street, which we also face, runs to Red Lion Square-- not exactly an alley. We love our quieter location only a block away from High Holborn. The fixed revolving stools are there for people who want to eat at the bar. That's because we're a... More

We popped in here for dinner as I was up in London for an event which was cancelled at the last minute, and this place is just round the corner from my partner's office - she has visited several times with friends and recommended it. From start to finish I was very impressed. It is more of a pub than... More

Had a meal here with friends, expecting a very different steak house experience but it wasn't all that different. I had some nice prawns for a starter and then a fillet steak, but oddly I thought serve with a slice of toasted bread and lots of mushrooms, no chips etc. I guess I could have ordered these on the side...
