We always love visiting Fortnum & Mason and seeing the beautiful displays. We thought we'd enjoy a cup of tea with scones at the Gallery this time - just up the stairs at the back of the ground floor. It was a disapointing experience. The service was poor - although there were a few waitresses, we had to wait a... More

Really very good restaurant with a menu based on Food Gallery items from F&M. Excellent service. Prices not too expensive. Original food, in huge portions. A must to do !

We had lunch at The Gallery and were impressed. Good quality and value for money. Service was helpful and attentive. I would recommend this place to friends and visit again. My tip would be to get a table at the rear of the restaurant away from the shop floor - we say by the window and it was good to... More

Rude service. Stood 1st in queue for 30 mins. Completely ignored, no record for number of PAX ( 4 of us). When asked, they could even have the audacity to insist there was only 2 in our group. what??? ridiculous. I'm aware it was a busy day, the older hostess was swamped. The younger female hostess on the other hand,... More

I have always been a fan of Fortnum & Mason, considering it the most civilised department store in London. Yes it is rather a tourist trap these days but once you have made your way through the crowds in the Food Hall it generally manages to rise above that to offer good service and products in comfortable and unhurried surroundings.... We went to F&M at ~18:00 and decide to have sandwich and tea there; without going to 4F for the high tea. The sandwich we have ordered (one steak sandwich and another fish one) are ok but not the quality you will expect; but it's still within our typical expectation to England food. The main problem is the tea served:... More

We had the Xmas menu for dinner and ordered the turkey roast with all the trimmings. Starters were of a great quality, and I enjoyed my generous smoked salmon and soda bread Mains - This wasn't a particularly exciting roast: watery gravy, root veg seemed to have been mainly boiled. The roast potatoes were clearly under roasted though they tasted... More

We arrived 7 minutes early for our table and my mother went up the stairs to confirm whether we should wait or could come up. The waitress said to come and bypass the queue. My elderly father lifted my sister's son, in his buggy, up the 10-15 steps to THEN be told "You are early, go and look around the... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
