A real ale pub in the heart of hackney with really friendly staff. The food is consistently good, we like the pizzas and Sunday roast. Kids are welcome until 8pm. It's our local and is a firm favourite for a quick drink or reliably good food.

This friendly pub has an interesting range of beers (mostly from Milton). It is also unusual in still having a bar billiards table, which makes it worth a detour in of itself. This once-popular game has now disappeared from all but a handful of London pubs. Didn’t try the food but looked pretty decent.

This is one heck of an eclectic pub. You almost expect sawdust on the floor. A great selection of ales and ciders and a gorgeous menu. Polite staff and a convivial atmosphere. Loved it and will return. They even sell a Hackney Ginger Beer.

This is a really interesting place, not an ordinary pub with one of the barmaids that gives you the feeling of the old time gone. Drinks as well are uncommon with ales, pumped ciders and drafted beers definitely not from high street brands but still more than enjoyable and tasty. They also do an excellent pizza and the kitchen is... More

Easy location, large inside and plenty of choice. Pizzas are affordable and delicious, especially any that include goats cheese. Shame there is no beer garden though.

Staying at an Air BnB in Hackney and this pub recommended by locals. Told of really good pizza and great range of draught beers. All true. It is a great local pub. Good food. Good service. Very good range of beers if you're serious. I am. Great atmosphere the night we were there and very friendly.

We lived close by when visiting Hackney and went here one night. Good service, nice selection of drinks and good athmosphere.

Rudest bar manager/owner I have come across in London. We were quite a big group, celebrating a birthday party. The guy was so angry because we were supposedly blocking the way (when actually barely any other customers were trying to access the bar). He started getting really agitated we couldn't even have a calm conversation with him, he eventually just... More

The manager is completely unreasonable and decided to remove us from the tavern after slightly blocking a 'thoroughfare' with a chair. Considering there were approximately 10 other people in the establishment, I consider this unreasonable, as there wasn't exactly a heavy traffic flow through the bar.

The place may be a hangout for the local hipsters and the decor could best be described as 'shabby chic', but the Milton ales of offer - named after mythical characters - are exceptional. I enjoyed the Sparta ale, a full bodied bitter. As regards food, it seems that pizza is their forte. I did not try one, but the... More
