For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

Lovely meal

We book based on reviews on TA. The restaurant wasn't quite what we expected as its not very big (although did appear to have another room downstairs). That said, the waiter was very attentive and the food was fabulous, serviced quickly and hot. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars was the... read more

Stayed at Edgeware Road last September, and discovered that Satay House was just opposite the coin-operated lauderette in Sale Place nearby. Malaysians will never resist visiting a restaurant serving Malaysian food, so my family made a beeline for it. The place is not that large, but it has two levels. We chose to eat downstairs, and was served by a... More

Good food though not as good as we expected. Roti canai wasn't really great which was a bit of disappointment. Small place but decent and silent ambience. Bill was huge in the end and some gratuity added without consent. Keep it as a special occasion dine out only. Overall rating - 3.5/5

If you're looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine then look no further! This place is definitely the best place in London to have whatever it is you're craving for, whether it is the famous satay and peanut sauce, the ever popular Nasi lemak with prawn sambal, or the good ol' Char Kuey Teow, they've got it all and I can assure... Incredibly tasty food. Great service. I only wish it was closer to where I live. Thinking of making a special trip into London just to go here. Do not hesitate to book a table.

Visited with my sister on a Sunday evening before catching an overnight train from Paddington. We'd looked for somewhere close by and a little different to our usual fare, and the existing reviews for Satay House clinched it. I've certainly never had Malaysian food before although have travelled a little in Thailand and Philippines so guessed that there would be... More

We took a chance and turned up without booking for Sunday lunch in January. It was busy but luckily there was one free table for two. Lots of lovely sounding dishes on the menu, which made it difficult for us to decide. We hadn't been to a Malaysian restaurant since our honeymoon in KL and Penang over 16 years ago.... More

This restaurant was just amazing! We wanted to have the perfect meal to end our short visit to London, and arriving at Satay House at 6pm, we only had a short time as our train departed Paddington at 7:40pm. As the restaurant was empty at 6pm we thought we would have no problem getting a table, but the waiter indicated... More

I went for lunch with my colleagues. I was told that it was Authentic Malaysian cuisine but I went in skeptical. We entered and it was a cosy, beautifully decorated intimate restaurant. The staff were very kind and courteous. It was a busy lunchtime so we did have to wait a while to make our orders and for the food... More
