New outside terrace is a great option for lockdown beers. Recommend mixed grill but everyone’s food looked good.

Myself and my partner are both Asian, live locally; great service ... they were a tiny bit late with order but honest about it when I called... the food was delicious!! Please try the Punjabi fish it's awesome... the chaat is sweet, sour and salty...as it should be....lamb chops for starter were done perfectly medium with good taste ...well done team Village M keep it up!!!More
Just ordered a take away from this place. Food came quickly and was hot ( steamy) and everything tasted very fresh. No complaints here.
I went with my friend and had a good meal. No frills restaurant and reasonably priced for what you get. Nice people serving and I think it's a little gem.
We needed to have something to eat, so we came across this place while wandering the are. I was not keen try because the lack of decor and bare appearance put me off. But is clean. The staff don’t wear an uniform and they are...busy attending to their take away and Deliveroo businesses, but they are polite and attentive went asked. What is good here is the food. Freshly cooked and authentic. The dishes are just big enough for a healthy apetito, so you may want to order between 2 to 3 dishes. The prices are low and reasonable for the place so I will certainly used it again.More
I’ve been a curry fan for 30 years and the chicken jalfrezi I ordered was the worst I’ve ever tasted, it was so bad that after trying it I just throw it away. If I had not bought it in the restaurant I wouldn’t have...believed that it was made by anyone who had even heard of India let alone come from there. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.More
This restaurant has long been a favourite of ours but during the past few months standards have slipped quite dramatically. We last visited on 16th December 2017 and hoped for a return to high standards but were disappointed. The free poppadum & chutney tray arrived,...poppadum fine, chutneys below par then I ordered a chicken vindaloo & pilau rice, my partner fish jalfrezi & plain rice. The first shock were the cold plates and by cold I mean not even room temperature but actually cold and how the waiter saw fit to present these is an indication of how standards have plummeted. I should have complained immediately but instead placed my plate on the radiator. The chicken vindaloo was a generic hot sauce, not bad but not vindaloo either, Pilau rice usual high standards. My partners rice was OK but the jalfrezi disgusting. The fish itself was OK but the sauce tasted like gloop out of a supermarket own-brand jar. Heavy on tomato and artificial 'flavourings' but nothing like a proper Indian jalfrezi. My guess is that the kitchen is experiencing difficulties right now and my advice would be to avoid this establishment unless and until the reviews improve.More
The food is ok and the staff are friendly but the restaurant itself is tatty and filthy which is really off-putting.
My partner an I have been patronising this Tulse Hill local for about 8 years. It was originally a café type establishment with Formica tables but has recently upgraded to restaurant standard. The cooking is authentic and ingredients seem fresh so above average for somewhere...this reasonably priced. They sometimes operate a BYOB but if not beer is not as expensive as the norm although wine has the usual prohibitive mark up. There are 2 TV screens showing Bollywood type musicals and other entertainment which adds a bit of atmosphere but not loud enough to be distracting. I usually skip starters (all good incidentally) as I don't have a huge appetite, and order across the menu but particularly like the 'Karahi Specials' which include curry, rice & salad on the same plate. Staff are friendly as well as helpful and efficient.More
Perfect sized portions, free popadoms, great service. Ordered a Lamb Madras and Dal, both delicately spiced and thoroughly enjoyed both dishes as did my wife.
