Very Good food view and service after a full couple of hours in the gallery. What better way to spend a Thursday evening.

Where to begin... really... just where? The art on display and the view at this historical venue is inversely proportional to this 'restaurant'. i.e, this place is RUBBISH! I ventured here with some work pals, as one of our party had raved about the view. Indeed upon arrival, the view is simply heart stompingly good. It leaves you breathless.. I... More

Dear J A, Thank you for sharing the feedback. I am extremely sorry that we could not cater for your needs or meet your expectations. However, this is very unclear but I must gather that you came when the restaurant was stopping lunch and that we have Afternoon tea up and running. I am trying to understand how come my... More

View was the best thing but food very disappointing. Service charming but slow, although extremely busy so that could be why.. Very noisy for same reason. All of which acceptable if the food when it finally came had been enjoyable. Not a cheap restaurant so would have expected a higher standard.

Dear Annette, I hope that this comment will find you well? I am very sorry to read about your disappointing experience. I do understand that it was slow because of the level of business. I wish I could assist you on your complaint, but this is a very subjective feedback - is it the quality of execution, or simply a... More

Friday lunch here felt like - and was - a real treat. Light and airy but with a stimulating atmosphere, and great views across rooftops to some of the city's iconic structures. We had a table by the window and received attentive but not fawning service, fabulous food (smoked salmon starters, roast pheasant and roast lamb, and a divine chocolate... More

Museums make me hungry. Far too many offer pitiful opportunities to deal with hunger. However, some excel at exhibits AND lunch or dinner. The Portrait Restaurant at the National Portrait Gallery is one of the best. Great food. Amazing views across Trafalgar Square. Great for pre-theatre dining. Make reservations!!!

Great place to invite an out-of-town friend with a fantastic view of London Trafalgar Square area. I went there for dinner but it would be great to visit for afternoon tea. Solid menu packed with a great variety of dishes will satisfy both meat and seafood lovers. You will likely find a good glass of wine that pairs well with... More

Lunched here before a theatre trip and the service and food were excellent. It's not cheap but it is worth it. I had the Ox cheek and mashed potato - full of flavour! Extra bread was provided free of charge, which was a nice touch. Would definitely go again.

Excellent food with a wonderful view. Friendly and helpful staff and Eggs Benedict to die for. The granola is epic too. Fantastic way to start your day. Probably best to book but we had the place almost to ourselves. On the expensive side - so a special holiday treat.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
