Description: Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine....
Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London.

We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day.

Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin"

Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf.

Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note.

We booked after reading Trip Advisor reviews and it was walking distance from the hotel. We were not disappointed and the food was excellent. We ate the dosas, large crispy pancakes made from lentils in which the food is wrapped. Service was brisk and helpful. Recommended if you want something a bit different from the usual curry house!

Went to this restaurant on the strength of a review, it was the first 'curry' that my mate had had in while so it needed to be something different, and it was. The staff were all very welcoming, both making recommendations and explaining the menu, the food was excellent, the Chettinad spices authentic and fresh. Dosas for starters, content fresh... More

After much deliberation I chose Chettinad for a special team meal. We had a great time and I have nothing bad to say about the restaurant. It just lacked the 'wow factor' I was expecting. Our starter platter was all very nice, and the mains were equally well liked by the team. The exception was the aubergine, which was a... More

I ate at Chettinad last night with a few friends and, overall, was pleasantly surprised. From the first poppadom all the way through to the extra strong coffee with soft milk, the meal was top notch. The thali looked especially good, particularly the initial bowl of soup that kicked things off. Also the Chettinadu Kolli curry was fantastic, genuinely a... More

I visited Chettinad on a Monday night in January with a group of friends. The restaurant itself is clean and quite bright and (as you might expect on a Monday) only half full. The food itself was nice - I had a fish curry which I did enjoy and others I was with said they enjoyed their food as well.... More

We went to this place, since the rating was so high, but we surely regretted that choice. We had a posa masala as a starter, which was nice in both texture and taste. Mains we had the lamb madras and the chettinad chicken, where the madras was nice but the chettinad chicken was plainly awful. It was so much nutmeg... More

Went to this restaurant on a Friday night and they were fully booked and turning people away who hadn't reserved tables. No issues to be seated as we had reserved a few days prior to our visit. The food lovely and the tikka dosa was especially nice and much recommended. Wasn't cheap, but not too expensive. A meal for 2... More

We went there with a group of friends just after Christmas and I voice all their opinion. As we all were vegetarians we were put off by the lack of veg options in their menu. Hardly nothing except for a spinach dhal and Kurma which tasted bland and the veg stuffing in the samosas were cold and tasteless. It looked... More
