I highly recommend for a great food experience in a lovely atmosphere with exceptional service. Our waiters were attentive and helpful as our party of two couples from the US navigated through the multiple choices of tapas and entrees. Everything we tried was excellent - cheeses, shrimp, calamari, octopus, chorizo, meatballs, cod, monkfish ... couldn't have been more pleased. Also... More

One of the nicest restaurants in London, the staff and atmosphere are fantastic the food is fantastic. Good Value and a great place to have authentic tapas in a really nice environment. Cant suggest it high enough. Really Happy place, like walking into a bar/restaurant in Madrid :-D A must go place.

It's a hidden gem in the centre of London. Once you enter the door, you'll see yourself in Spain and forget about you're actually in the centre of London. I loved all the famous paintings on the wall. Dishes are all exquisite and makes you think that you don't really need to go to Spain to have Spanish food there... More

Ours was a late booking but the restaurant accommodated us well in spite of it being the busy Christmas season. Everyone was very warm and welcoming, and made us feel very special. I struggle to recall exactly what we had because we left the ordering to one of our party who was familiar with the menu. We went for about... More

I love visiting this small but perfectly formed Spanish tapas bar. it has an excellent and extensive wine list covering all regions of Spain including some interesting Sherries. I am a creature of habit so always go for the kidneys in red wine and garlic prawns in dried chillies. It has a great buzz and if it is full I... More

This is the first time in U.K. that I meet such an unfriendly gluten free restaurant . The waiter didn't have the clue of what gluten free means and didn't want to help. I ended up with a salad and 3 prawns. For the dessert I had to insist to get something else than a fruit salad. Apparently everything had... More

We forgot to book, so managed to 'steal' a table early evening and got out before its reservation time of 7:30pm. We ordered some usual fare, albondigas, chicken, some seafood dishes and a bottle of Vina Sol. All this was excellent. The service is perfect. Next time, we'll book, which will give us more time to properly explore the menu.... More

We were quite surprised when we walked in, it has a very nice environment and the staff was quite welcoming. The problem was the food, very poor quality and I can assure that the spanish omelette was made who knows when and just re-heated in the microwave. Unfortunately, the food is not better to the one any of us could... More

Description
Critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata opened its doors in 1994. Tucked away in the corner of Mayfair next to Hyde Park, El Pirata has become a firm favourite for those wanting an authentic Spanish experience.

Relax at the superb mirrored bar with a drink or two whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the Spanish influenced decor. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you can enjoy the Tapas menu where each dish is individually priced, or if you’re not too familiar with Tapas, choose from our two fantastic set menus.

At lunchtimes enjoy our special lunch menu which offers great value; two tapas dishes, a bread roll and alioli plus a soft drink or a glass of wine for just £10.25 – great value!

Downstairs is ideal for parties and gatherings of up to 60 people. If you prefer a private area for either that important business dinner or a more romantic setting for that more intimate meal, you will find our two private alcoves perfect.

When the weather’s at its best, our four outside tables are an instant hit, but you’ll have to be early because they are snapped up fast!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
