The service was good, though I don't like our wine being poured by the waiter, so we stopped that. Broad menu, but I would like whitebait which they don't do at the moment. We sat and drank and talked long into the night, and were left to get on with that, which is unusual.

I'm lucky that El Pirata is local to my workplace so a good excuse to pop in every now and then with friends for lunch or after work. Always friendly and this time I was especially pleased to see it so buzzing on a Monday night! Great selection of tapas and main course dishes, whatever your fancy, and the staff... More

I have dined at El Pirata a number of times and, each time, it is an excellent experience. The service is first rate, the Sangria is outstanding and the food delicious. Its off-the-main-drag location makes outdoor dining very pleasant when weather permits, too.

Came with a travelzoo voucher. I was happy enough to be in basement and given a set menu with no choices of 9 plates but the food's standard and choices were very boring as far as I am concerned . El Pirata's owner should visit ZORITA Kitchen and see what great tapas are all about. Waiters were nice enough even... More

Last night, I went to El Pirata with a group of friends... I must say that as a spanish person and having checked the pictures shared by people I was a bit reluctant about going to this place but still decided to give it a chance. I didn´t like at all the decoration of the place but understand this is... More

We were walking in Mayfair and came across El Pirata. We sampled a delicious wine (recommended by a member of staff) and some tapas. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the quality of everything and certainly shall be returning.

Having worked locally a few years ago and been a frequent visitor at that time, I took my partner for a trip down memory lane during our recent visit to London. The food and service were as remembered and we had a fab late lunch, happily sitting outside with great attention from the owner and his team. If you like... More

A busy little place but quite a bit of place downstairs - we chose to sit at the bar - great fun - you really feel part of the action. The food was absolutely delicious - every single tapas dish we ordered was fantastic - stand-outs for me were the perfectly cooked lamb chops, the ham croquetas, the king prawns,... More

Had booked a table here for a special occasion for the two of us. We love tapas and this place got great reviews so decided it would be perfect for us. This is a nice place, decor good, varied menu and wine list etc but...... We were shown to a tiny 2 person table. Tapas, right? Loads of plates of... More

Critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata opened its doors in 1994. Tucked away in the corner of Mayfair next to Hyde Park, El Pirata has become a firm favourite for those wanting an authentic Spanish experience.

Relax at the superb mirrored bar with a drink or two whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the Spanish influenced decor. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you can enjoy the Tapas menu where each dish is individually priced, or if you’re not too familiar with Tapas, choose from our two fantastic set menus.

At lunchtimes enjoy our special lunch menu which offers great value; two tapas dishes, a bread roll and alioli plus a soft drink or a glass of wine for just £10.25 – great value!

Downstairs is ideal for parties and gatherings of up to 60 people. If you prefer a private area for either that important business dinner or a more romantic setting for that more intimate meal, you will find our two private alcoves perfect.

When the weather’s at its best, our four outside tables are an instant hit, but you’ll have to be early because they are snapped up fast!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
