A busy little place but quite a bit of place downstairs - we chose to sit at the bar - great fun - you really feel part of the action. The food was absolutely delicious - every single tapas dish we ordered was fantastic - stand-outs for me were the perfectly cooked lamb chops, the ham croquetas, the king prawns,... More

Had booked a table here for a special occasion for the two of us. We love tapas and this place got great reviews so decided it would be perfect for us. This is a nice place, decor good, varied menu and wine list etc but...... We were shown to a tiny 2 person table. Tapas, right? Loads of plates of... More

Not been here before but will certainly return. A super menu of traditional Spanish tapas served by charming and helpful staff. Every dish we had was hugely enjoyable and some on the menu were new to us. A lovely night out and not expensive - even though we did push the boat out with the number of dishes ordered!

We found this place on our first night in Paris and it was so good we returned on our last night 10 days later. All of the food was outstanding ,creative and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant. You won't be sorry.

In Mayfair since 1994, El Pirata offers an extensive selection of authentic, traditional Spanish tapas served in an energetic atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly. The set menus provide excellent value and variety and are recommended.

I have to admit a favourite of mine as the service is always friendly, the food good and the atmosphere buzzy. Great for taking friends or family as you can share lots of dishes that come when ready, while chatting away over a glass or two. The Seafood Paella was a particular highlight for the table, with an authentic taste... More

Average all round - we had a selection of tapas with a group of four of us. The dishes looked nice enough but failed to deliver on flavour. The bill was £164.00, this included two bottles of reasonable red at £33.00 per bottle. Staff were friendly enough, the food was not memorable. Reasonably priced for London.

Decided to try here at the recommendation of out hotel concierge and am so pleased we did. This popular Mayfair eatery offers fantastic original tapas dishes at a decent price with a marvelous Spanish wine list. We all enjoyed a good selection of traditional, well prepared food that celebrated the Spanish art of tapas. The wine we chose complimented the... More

Critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata opened its doors in 1994. Tucked away in the corner of Mayfair next to Hyde Park, El Pirata has become a firm favourite for those wanting an authentic Spanish experience.

Relax at the superb mirrored bar with a drink or two whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the Spanish influenced decor. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you can enjoy the Tapas menu where each dish is individually priced, or if you’re not too familiar with Tapas, choose from our two fantastic set menus.

At lunchtimes enjoy our special lunch menu which offers great value; two tapas dishes, a bread roll and alioli plus a soft drink or a glass of wine for just £10.25 – great value!

Downstairs is ideal for parties and gatherings of up to 60 people. If you prefer a private area for either that important business dinner or a more romantic setting for that more intimate meal, you will find our two private alcoves perfect.

When the weather’s at its best, our four outside tables are an instant hit, but you’ll have to be early because they are snapped up fast!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
