I didn't have a reservation and had to wait a short time for a table. Once the pre-theatre people left there were seats before evening diners arrived. Best to make a reservation I think. The food is good and reasonably priced. Staff were courteous and the service reasonably swift. Make sure you don't sit at the door as it is... More

Visited here the night before the london marathon 2017. Its a nice small venue with excellent staff and food to match. We both had really good meals and a good portion size, couldnt fault any part of it. It helped me to a PB at the marathon so must be good!

What can I say! Fabulous food which is authentic and fresh, great staff who are accomodating and friendly and a reasonable price tag too. The first night Olivelli was full but the waitress squeezed us in after a short wait. Our dining experience was so good that we returned each night during our stay. I haven't eaten such fabulous seafood... More

Every table booked but the manager found us a table as long as we finished in 1hr 30 mins. Thank you! The 3-course meal was served with just the right timing - not too long between courses. The waiters we ALL friendly and helpful, not over-attentive - they just wanted to know if we were enjoying the food they had... More

I am a regular visitor at the Olivelli (Waterloo) and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Staff is very friendly and professional and do everything to make you feel welcome. I went there with a friend yesterday and our dinner slowly transferred into drinks (and snacks :)) We ended up staying there for five (!) hours.... More

Having been told that The Cut was a good place to find a good choice of restaurants, we plumped for Olivellis, and very pleased we did so. We arrived without a booking and it took 20 minutes or so to get a table for two, but the team were clearly working hard to help us. We ordered reasonably quickly and... More

Lunch for 3 generations - suited everyone really well - good food choices from pizza to more traditional Italian trattoria choices. Delightful staff - lovely waiter who even took a lively 2 year old off to watch the pizza-making and let his dad eat his food. Really nice staff who went the extra mile. A very positive experience which we... More

Had booked lunch, prior to performance at the Young Vic.( More space than eating at the Vic and a good vibe -and ony just across the road!)We were very pleased to have been given the best table in the window as we had booked well in advance of our visit. There is the option of a very reasonable "set" lunch of 2... My daughter and i had been shopping and were delayed, so when we saw the restaurant was full we were worried, but our table was held and the pizza was perfect. A great place to eat before the theatre

Lunch, again, somewhere in south London....Wonderful Calzone shared with a friend, plus truly tasty ravioli. Nice wines, such a warm welcome and a good giggle. Felt like I was in Napoli.

Description
The Paradiso story began with Olivelli's Hotel and restaurant which was founded in 1934 by Sicilian-born Rita and Enrico Olivelli. Situated in Store Street - heart of Bohemian London, it quickly became a culinary haven for students from nearby RADA and established actors and actresses at London theatres.Olivelli's name spread rapidly thanks to its warm, friendly atmosphere and authentic, value-for-money food. Such was its reputation that the Marx Brothers insisted on eating at the restaurant on their one and only visit to England. Among other famous diners were the legendary 'naughty girl' Mae West, Danny Kaye, Mickey Rooney, Bob Hope and Liberace. When Sicilian-born Giovanni and Salvatore Salamone bought Olivelli in 1993 - the first of their popular chain of Olivelli Paradiso outlets (now known simply as Olivelli) across London - they took care to preserve the restaurant's unique characteristics, recreating its welcoming atmosphere and using only the finest, freshest ingredients sourced from Italy and nearby markets.Hardly surprising then that contemporary celebrities such as Mel Brookes, Eric Clapton, Kevin Spacey, Graham Norton, Ben Elton, and Jack Dee continue to dine at Olivelli restaurants.
