Booked Sunday lunch here as visiting our daughter who lives in Hampstead. While exterior very pretty - and interior, as we would have expected for a pub of this age and history - it was let down by the less than average food. We ordered...the fish and chips - and it was very disappointing. A teaspoon of 'mushy peas'? and over cooked fish and unappetising chips. Such a shame. We enjoyed the ambiance, however, and was great to catch up with our daughter. Shame about the less than average food.More

As a group of 14, we chose The Flask as the location for our pre-Christmas dinner. From the ease of making the initial booking, to pre-selection of our menu choices to a fantastic experience on the day, The Flask was the perfect choice. We had...our own private space and the Service was excellent. Good quality crackers were provided with decent party hats. The food was well presented and excellent quality, and we were not rushed between courses. We will definitely visit again.More

We were invited to attend a family gathering here at The Flask. I had absolutely no expectation of what was to come. I thought I'd play safe and have fish and chips. I have to say it was one of the best fish and chips...I even had! I'm quite fussy and a food so I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of thus well cooked food. A bit of a hidden gem!More

Went for an early dinner with my daughter. The outdoor drinking/ dining area is full of people vaping/ smoking and people smoking cigars, so probably not ideal for families etc. I have no issue with the smoking/ vaping but when you’re trying to eat makes...it unpleasant. Food was fantastic and service excellent. This use to be my local 20 years ago and it certainly has changed. I wouldn’t say it’s a pub anymore, it’s now got more of a restaurant vibe.More

What a wonderful place to eat. I got bubblegum on my trouser leg from one of the chairs and they couldn't do enough for me bringing vinegar, ice cubed and a cloth. They offered to pay for my dry cleaning bill but I settled for...2 free meals. When I went back today the service was impeccable and the food came swiftly. The guy who serves me was wearing a hat and colourful trainer his name was Jordan I think. He was amazing really conscientious about our time there making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. I felt very special and well looked after. The food was divine I have never had such a tender and succulent steak before. I would recommend this place to any one definitely going back again. If I could give it more stars I would. Thank you to the excellent staff and the lovely manager. I value your service and will be regular customer now.More

This pub used to be my local until I moved away with work. I was back in the area a few days ago and decided to go for a pint with some friends. We walked in off the street (it being a PUB, apparently) and...were able to do so because there was nobody present at the entrance to tell us otherwise. When we reached the bar, a woman started shouting at us from outside and came in and said we weren't allowed to be in there and that it is "bookings only" and they don't allow walk-ins. Not a pub then is it. We left and went to a much nicer nearby place. As a passing thought, the food we could see being served smelled like bad nursing home food. Disgusting way to treat customers and we won't be back when we all meet up again next.More

I am the "local" who complained that The Flask is no longer a pub! Something that wasn't mentioned in the article in the Ham & High newspaper is that I was BARRED from the pub for complaining that I was not able to order drinks...at the bar! I am still waiting for an explanation and apology from the manager - some hope! A pretty traditional pub now ruined by their table-only policy and the indifference and rudeness of the staff!More

Well, what can I say....... this is a pretty pub that suffers from staff that are either not well trained or don't really care at all about the customers, or what they do. I went for a Sunday lunch with a friend and found the...service ethic flabby and the food frankly - Meh....... OK so positives, pretty courtyard, nice setting, the fries were nice, small portion, though. Negatives - Very small charcuterie sharing platter for two, I think it was £20 and not generous. The olive oil was not extra virgin and to be honest you could have got better from any shelf in the local supermarket, again meh... We ordered a ribbon salad and I don't know what happened with it but it was not a ribbon salad and was warm and greasy (from sitting on the pass while other things were served?), not fresh, with some kind of salty grim avocado puree on the plate, it was disgusting and we sent it back, it was taken off the plate but there was no apology or acknowledgement that it was not fit to serve... To sum up, probably a good place for a drink and some nibbles but I'm not convinced that the food is up to scratch for the prices that are charged...More

This is one of my locals so I come here quite regularly. Last night I came for dinner with a couple of friends. Although I had booked the day before for three people in the covered outside area, the host tried to put us on...a table only big enough for two. I asked to be seated inside, which we were. Just as we were settling down a party of four were squeezed onto a small table next to us and they were very loud, so we moved again, into the back room. Our server, Cem, facilitated all of this with help and humour. We all ordered the roast beef. Two were delicious, but the third one had way too much fat. This was left on the plate and when the server (a lovely young lady) cleared it away we pointed it out and she showed the manager. Within five minutes she came back, apologised and said the manager would not charge us for our bottle of wine. When the food arrived I was disappointed to see peas mixed in with the cabbage. I don't eat peas. Cem overheard me saying this and organised for a bowl of fresh green cabbage to brought to the table at no extra charge. Finally, we asked if they could do the brownie differently from how it was described on the menu. They obliged us and it was yummy. Our only complaint was that the Yorkshire pudding, although very good, was cold. However, that didn't matter in view of all the wonderful service we got, which is all too rare these days. Many thanks to all the lovely staff at The Flask!More

This has been the second time we've chosen to go back to the flask recently - it was once a great place. Unfortunately from the moment of arrival we were greeted by their host who put us all off the place, again. It's a great...location and a once great pub, these days the Gatehouse across the road is far far nicer, great food and a great attitude.More

It is painful to write this because we have been coming to this lovely pub for about ten years, and in the early years it was a dream: beautiful old pub with atmosphere, wonderful service, perfect location, great outdoor seating on a sunny day. Over...recent years, however, the food has declined dramatically, though quality has gone up and down a bit (more down than up though). Not so long ago we had a drink and some appetisers and it was fine. YESTERDAY however was the worst dining experience I can remember. I actually sent my main back, because it was inedible: ‘trout’ with some mush of vegetables and ‘crab cream’ that tasted like mud scooped off the beach. The waitstaff were good, they took it away and didn’t charge us for it (appropriately, as the taste still lingers in my mouth today) and I ordered some gnocchi—edible, but basically airplane food. Every locale can have an ‘off day’, but this was BEYOND. Such a shame for a pub with such great ‘bones’ to be flailing at the basics. Please, Flask, get it together!!More

Accommodation for people with dietary restrictions. Two of us are gluten free and we were looked after very well. Even to the point of them having a different chip fryer for allergic/intolerant people. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful. Such a delight not to...be treated like an oddity! The food was good, it was very busy so maybe they could do with a few extra staff but it was a lovely atmosphere and clearly the staff are happyMore

This restaurant was highly recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint. The food is fabulous and the efficient, friendly staff provided the warmest welcome. Four of us visited here on Sunday on a trip to Highgate Village and we all loved it. When we booked,...I explained that I needed a comfortable chair and that’s exactly what was provided, on an inside table as requested. Although very busy, the staff were super efficient and helpful. Having been disappointed the previous evening, with the most awful customer service at the Granary on the Square, our visit here, was relaxing and enjoyable, which cheered us up, no end. The Sunday roast lamb was delicious and when I asked for extra gravy, it wasn’t a problem and promptly delivered. Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so wonderful and memorable.More

Went to the flask for Sunday roast at about 6:00. Service was very good. Had the lamb shoulder roast and my wife had the beef. Both were grand only negative was the Yorkshire pudding. Seemed that it was made some time before maybe 2:00 so...it was a tad chewy. Other wise it was a very fine evening in the gardenMore
